The space The three-storey cottage is located close to the end of a row of terraced houses on a quiet country road close to the banks of the River Tyne. Traditionally styled, with warm colours and original features to the fore, the cottage has a homely ambience that puts guests at ease. Relax with books or refreshments in the lounge, a cosy area with sash windows that glows once the fire is lit. The original country-style kitchen/dining area is full of character, a place to enjoy lazy brunches, indulgent dinners and late-night treats. The nearby utility room/boot is a priceless space for bringing soiled clothing back into use fast and links neatly to the rear courtyard. Two double bedrooms with sash windows and wooden flooring join a family bathroom on the first floor and there are two single bedrooms on the second floor, one with views of Hadrian’s Way. The mature south-facing garden at the front of the cottage welcomes morning coffee drinkers and al fresco diners, while the enclosed courtyard to the rear is useful for access for those with muddy paws, feet or tyres. Walkers, shoppers and history buffs staying at the cottage are spoiled for choice, with a range of attractions on offer. Various footpaths and trails riddle the area, with Hadrian’s Cycleway, which follows the route of Hadrian’s Wall, within 50 metres of the cottage. Wylam (3.5 miles), the birthplace of early railway pioneer, George Stephenson, offers a range of pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Hop on a train here for Hexham (15.5 miles) and Newcastle (10.5 miles), home to myriad attractions spanning many centuries.
