Description
Welcome to our beautiful home on the edge of Dartmoor. A magical place to get away from everything, sleeping 4, in 2 bedrooms, with a garden up some steps from the property and parking nearby (1 min walk). 40 mins from beautiful south hams beaches, and ten minutes walk from our lovely local pub! Walk for miles without setting foot on a road, hang up your boots next to a roaring fire at the end of the day, and fall asleep to the sound of the river The space Our home is a unique and characterful former mill cottage in a tiny hamlet on the edge of Dartmoor. Inside, the wood-beamed cottage is stylish and comfortable, perfect for a family holiday or a romantic break. The sitting room is a cosy place to relax after a day out, with a wood-burning stove and squishy sofas. We have games and books available for guests as well as a television. Our kitchen is gorgeous and well-equipped, with a table seating four comfortably. We love sitting on the windowsill in the kitchen looking out at the wild river below. Upstairs, the spacious master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and a chemical-free mattress. From the window, you can see only trees and the sky, and lying in bed you can hear only the sound of the moorland river outside. The second bedroom is bright, sun-filled, and sleeps two in bunk beds. The desk in this bedroom is a perfect place to catch up on work, if you need to, or just to draw or play. The lovely bathroom has a bath with a shower over it. The house has excellent wifi, and you will need to connect to wifi to use your phone as there is no mobile reception. From the back garden (which is up some steps from the cottage, you can walk directly along a footpath onto open moorland through woods and fields. The views from the top are incredible, and we are happy to recommend wonderful walks to suit any level of walking appetite. We try to end up at the friendly pub only ten minutes walk from home! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COTTAGE IS A SHORT (1 MIN) WALK FROM THE PARKING AREA, INCLUDING STEPS. WE RECOMMEND NOT ARRIVING IN THE DARK AS IT CAN BE HARD TO FIND, BUT IF YOU DO NEED TO ARRIVE AFTER DARK, PLEASE BRING A TORCH!! Guest access The whole house and garden is yours! Please note that the garden is along a little path and up some steps and the space directly outside the house is shared with our neighbours so please respect their needs and we ask guests to use the garden to sit in and not use the space directly outside. Other things to note No pets upstairs please. We also use the freezer and will ensure there is at least one freezer drawer available for you to use during your stay. We provide enough firewood for a fire on your first night (October - April), and will leave instructions for where you can buy more wood. We leave tea for guests but unfortunately not coffee as it is so expensive to buy nice coffee - please bring your own!
