Crafted with loving attention, curated vintage furnishings, contemporary artwork, and vaulted ceilings throughout, this beautifully styled apartment is the part-time home to American interdisciplinary artist Todd Thomas Brown who arrived in Fontecchio in 2019 to launch an arts initiatives aimed at repopulation. It is one of four apartments in "The Fontecchio International Airport" - a hybrid of B&B and part-time artist residency center, located in the newly restored 18th century Palazzo Galli. The space Located in the recently restored 18-century Palazzo Galli, this apartment is the largest of four, all part of the Fontecchio International Airport. It's entrance is found at the end of the large interior courtyard opposite to the arched main entrance. You will see that some of the photos look different as Todd frequently changes the selection of artwork on display. The dinning room features a large glass dining table supported by a floral-themed sculpture. The living room receives southern exposure to the sun, as does the bedroom which has a view of the south ridge of the Aterno Valley. There is a full bathroom connected to the bedroom and a half bathroom off the kitchen. The kitchen comes with all basic amenities, including coffee, olive oil, and spices for cooking. Note: the stovetop is induction. The heating system is new, and each room has its own heating unit that can be turned on or off independently. The apartment opens onto a spacious courtyard that is shared by three other apartments. If weather permits, you're welcome to have your meals and morning coffee in the courtyard. It's a wonderful place to relax and, if you're lucky, you might hear the faint melodies of Andrea's trumpet, from his house on the hill, when he practices in the afternoons You will also likely meet our cat Blu, and our dog, Mr. Bugsy (whose house is outside the main entrance). Guest access Entrance to the apartment is found within the interior courtyard, which is accessed through the main arched entrance with the big wooden doors (seen in the photos). Self check-in is accessed by using the security key box outside the main doors. You will have a key to the main doors as well as a key to your apartment (instructions for this are included in the welcome email for guests). In addition to the apartment, you are free to use the interior courtyard to enjoy meals when weather permits. Other things to note Some Extras: We have a single mattress (fold out cot) available should there be need for an additional guest. Todd's co-host, Anna, is fluent in Italian and Portuguese, TANGO: Todd has danced tango for over 25 years and taught professionally in San Francisco for a number of years. However, he is only in Fontecchio part-time, but if he's there then there's a good possibility to arrange private lessons with him. ARTWORK: Should you be interested in purchasing artwork, please let us know. Many of the works in the apartment are for sale and there is an art studio/exhibition space on the lower level of the Palazzo. (You can view works online, just google Todd Thomas Brown Artist).
