The Pennings

Stay in a pair of huts in your own private paddock. Here you can enjoy your own space and just chill or use this as a base to explore local attractions such as Stonehenge, 10 mins, and Salisbury cathedral 25mins. The huts are joined with a large veranda and walkway from one hut to the other. There is the option of sitting around the woodstove on the veranda or gathering around the firepit in amongst the meadow grass. From here you can walk straight out onto Salisbury plain. The space The Pennings is made up of two shepherds huts. The space includes a shower room, kitchen, double bedroom, a bunk room and a large veranda. The shower room has a generous shower with plentiful hot water and a great view. There is an attractive compost toilet. The kitchen has room for 4 to eat and plenty of workspace with an induction hob, fridge and toaster. The double sliding doors open wide onto a generous veranda with a flat topped wood stove. The stove can be used to cook on and this is a lovely area to gather around at any time of day. From here you walk through to the second hut and into the main bedroom. This is a simple space. The double bed has a memory foam mattress. The bed will be made up for you when you arrive but it can be made into a sofa during the day if you choose to do so. The bed is facing double french doors that open onto a rural veiw. Perfect for that morning cuppa. Finally, there is a small bunk room packed with character. The two bunks both have memory foam matresses and each has its own round window. The bunks are a little smaller than a single bed but an adult can sleep comfortably and would be suitable for teenagers. Both huts have underfloor heating in the kitchen and main bedroom. There is a fire pit for you to use and you can walk straight out onto Salisbury Plain from here. Please note that this is a small but well designed space. The photos do make it look larger than it is! Guest access The huts are set within a small paddock with a dog proof fence around it. There is room for a car to park within the paddock. If you have additional cars then we can accomodate these elsewhere. Guests have sole use of the paddock during their stay. Cyclists are very welcome, we are almost directly on the King Alfreds Way cycle route. Bikes can be safely locked up on the veranda or we can store them in our secure worshop if you wish. Other things to note Supplied on arrival: Eggs, bacon and bread, butter, jam, milk, coffee and tea. Also a bottle of prosecco and some biscuits. We supply wood and kindling for the fire. You will have to walk from the bedroom to the bathroom via the veranda. This is all on one level and under cover. The toilet is a compost toilet. The main bedroom has fully glazed french doors allowing a great view from the bed. Please note that the curtains are not light proof but we do provide eye masks.
