Description

A beautiful terraced townhouse in the historic town of Pembroke Dock, situated in a residential area near the town centre. It is within walking distance of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and Pembroke Castle (1.5ml), and about 1km to the Irish Ferry. Walk to the Heritage Centre and the Maritime Museum to discover the vital part that Pembroke Dock and its flying boats played in WWII. Tenby and St Davids are also within easy reach. The space This property is my much loved family home, and as such, you will find that it is very well equipped, and though most of the drawers and cupboards are empty for your use, there are still some personal items in a few places. Apart from the kitchen, the property is carpeted throughout and the furnishings are old but clean and comfortable. We return home fairly frequently, so there is usually some coffee, tea and other small items of non-perishable food available for when you first arrive. There is also a box of laundry powder, which you are welcome to use, but we would appreciate it if you could replace the item you use if the container becomes empty, so that there will be some for the next visitors. Thank you. There is an ASDA and Tesco nearby, both of which do home deliveries and Click& Collect orders, that you may find useful when you arrive. There is also an Aldi and a Lidl nearby. There is a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool within walking distance. Pembroke Dock is the perfect centre for exploring all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. The nearest sandy beach is at Freshwater East, about 4 miles away. It has a large expanse of golden sand backed by sand dunes and cliffs with bungalows of various sized dotted among them. This is a very safe beach for children and swimming. There are public toilets at one end, and an excellent cafe/ restaurant in the small holiday complex. Broadhaven beach (as opposed to Broad Haven, which is in the North) is also very near, about five miles, and also very safe. From the National Trust car park it is a short but steep sandy walk down to the beach, but to enjoy a beautiful scenic walk there, park at Bosherston and walk around the lily ponds to the beach, returning through the woods on the other side. We have seen otters playing in the water here, so keep your eyes open. Also, the rare Choughs with their bright red legs and beaks are often to be seen on the headlands around here, and herons looking for fish. For a wild and rugged beach, head to Freshwater West, and watch the Atlantic breakers crashing to the shore. It is incredibly beautiful when the sun sets behind the waves. This beach is very popular with surfers, but generally it is not a safe beach for children to swim due not just to the waves, but the dangerous undercurrents. There are so many beautiful sections of the coast path that are easily accessible from Pembroke Dock that there are too many to mention. Many of the sections can be walked via circular routes, or you can return by means of the local buses. Carew Castle with its tidal Mill and Celtic Cross is a very beautiful but lesser known spot, with a circular walk of about 1 mile, accessible for pushchairs and wheel chairs. Parking is free as is the walk, Celtic Cross and entry to the castle tea room, but you have to pay to enter the Mill and the castle itself. There is a wonderful pub near the castle, and on the way back to Pembroke Dock, as you pass through Milton, there is the best Fish and Chips in the area! (Parking on the right, behind the shop.) Pembroke Castle should not be missed, with its rich and exciting history. Get a guide if you can, to bring it to life and learn about the birth of Henry VII th and why this little corner of Wales has been English-speaking for hundreds of years. There is also a walk around the outside of the castle and its Mill Pond. There is so much more to see and do! There is the Heritage Centre and the Maritime Museum in Pembroke Dock, where you can discover the big part that Pembroke Dock with its Flying Boats played in the last war. There is a beach and a castle at Manorbier, then there is Tenby with its narrow streets and golden beaches, just 10 miles away. From there you can take a fishing trip or a ferry to Caldey Island. Over the Cleddau bridge to the North, you can visit St David's, Britain's smallest city, with its cathedral, Bishops Palace and numerous gift shops, cafes and art galleries. Just beyond is the beautiful Whitesands Bay, and if you like walking , head along the coast path from there to climb Carn Llidi, for a 360 degree view of Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay. The county town of Haverfordwest has a Farmer's Market on a Friday, just 9 miles from the bridge. We love our home, and aim to keep the homely feel. We hope that you will enjoy it and love it too, and come back again and again to see all the lovely places that you couldn't get to the last time! Guest access The whole house and garden are available for you to use. Other things to note Free parking is available on the street.
