Description

Escape the noise and find true rest in our cosy, handcrafted eco-cabin, nestled among dramatic limestone formations and regenerating native bush. Access is via a short, steep bush track—a walk that leads you past your private wood-fired cedar sauna and hot outdoor shower. This is your chance to unplug from devices, talk, relax and recharge. The space The Hut is well insulated with wool in the ceiling/floor and straw in the walls. The windows are double glazed and the small woodburner heats the space quickly. The 13m² hut is a refined take on a DOC cabin, consciously constructed from natural materials, including straw walls, clay, lime plasters, wool insulation, and beautiful red beech flooring. Its superb insulation and double-glazed windows ensure the small woodburner heats the space quickly and efficiently. The cabin is fully off-grid, with solar power dedicated to lighting and a USB charging port. Please note: There is no Wi-Fi or cell coverage at the hut. The bed is a luxurious King-sized natural latex and wool mattress with a wool duvet. A skylight directly above the bed is perfect for uninterrupted stargazing. The covered front porch features an outside kitchenette, fully equipped with a BBQ, gas ring, sink, pots/pans, knives, and a chiller. We provide essentials, including Crockery, Cutlery, Ceramic Water Filter, Teapot and stove-top Espresso, as well as coffee, teas and essentials such as salt, pepper, oil. The Kakapo composting toilet and the luxurious, hot outdoor shower are a short set of stairs away, with the cedar and pine sauna located just further up. Guest access The hut is very private. There is 5 minute walk to the hut. There is walking access to the Waipara river. You can walk upstream to the White Gorge Other things to note We are also interested in: Making gin using local botanicals, Weaving with flax, Permaculture, Earthbuilding -including building with strawbales Multiple nights stays are discounted, this is applied automatically when selecting your dates to stay.
