Camel room @Village Kunterbunt
Camel room @Village Kunterbunt
Description
This solar powered room has a bathroom, living area (with work space) and a bedroom on the mezzanine. You have to climb a small staircase to get to your sleeping quarters. During gale force winds your (private & attached) bathroom may get littered with oak leaves from the neighboring tree. If you are somewhat of a non-smoking Bob Beck 1980's Camel Man/Woman then this may be the room for you:) The space Welcome to our down to earth home in the upper area of Cape Town city center. Located in Oranjezicht, we are close many hiking routes in the Table Mountain Nationalpark. We are living in the 3rd generation in this 1919 house, building and creating it with our own hands. Our protected courtyard has 4 seperate rooms (and bathrooms), the kitchen is shared with any other guests that may be here (max. 4 rooms). We have a very friendly dog called Hannah, who will greet you at the gate every time you come in. Guests enjoyment of their stay with us depends very much on the guest ensuring that our place matches their needs and expectations as well as us providing accurate information. Our place is definitely not "fancy" or "manicured". Our target guests are somewhat robust, easy going, and able to accommodate the peculiarities associated with being off-grid (no loadshedding). Our place is very much outdoor orientated and Cape Town is a windy place. Stuff blows in. The house is more than 100 years old, and we keep it together using up-cycled, re-used and recycled materials where we can. We think it gives our place a unique character. Please also look at our other listings to help you get an accurate impression of our place. Two more information for 2025/26 season: 1. The main house (our family house) is still not fully renovated and we are building right now. This is not affecting the guest area but might be noisy here and there. If you need some quiet time (working from home), let us know, so we can lower the noise levels for that time. 2. We are first time parents since January 2026, so there might be noises in the main house, not affecting the guest area. Guest access Separate guest entrance through the garage. During your stay Always happy to interact with guests to get you going. Tell us what you like, what you need, and we will help or advise you. We are on the premises and our door is always open. Other things to note Please no heaters, hair dryers, clothing irons since we use solar power. We don’t have loadshedding, but we cannot support electrical appliances that use a lot of electricity.
