Description
Escape to the peaceful wilderness! This off-grid cabin is eight miles from North Cascades National Park and walking distance to the wild and scenic Cascade River. Situated on wooded land with its own natural spring and an outdoor soaking tub, this place is very private. Out the back door is forest service land and miles of hiking (or sledding) on a logging road. Cozy up to the fire with hot chocolate after a day of hiking or fishing. Watch the sun rise out the window from your armchair. The space The cabin is located inside a gated community. Hand-built in 1968, it's a simple A-frame with some updates (new heating, stove, and fridge) and some original features (old floor and linoleum bathroom counter). This is not a high-polish hotel--it's lovely and imperfect. You will need to run the generator once a day to keep the house in power, and the hot water heater works well but can be finicky (too much cold water can shut it down, etc.). This is the woods! There's a small bedroom with a queen-size bed and shelves, as well as a loft with a queen-sized bed and a desk. The bathroom has a shower, and you can put a new twist on "forest bathing" in the outdoor tub. The main room is outfitted with two arm chairs, a big couch, and a dining table. Kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. There's a wood stove and a propane fireplace for heat. Guest access Guests will have access to all portions of the cabin and the surrounding property. Other things to note I've been the steward of this cabin and the land it sits on since 2017, when I dreamed of deepening my relationship with the wild. It has been a sanctuary and a gift for me, and I hope it is that for you too. When I moved in it had no electricity and no heating. The first morning I woke up to find ice crusting the water in my glass. One little improvement at a time, the cabin became a place to live, work, write, heal, and play--a little temple for life to bloom. I'm honored to open it up to others who can enjoy its magic when I'm not there. Please take good care of the sweet place and fully enjoy it. Rachel Smith, owner
