The Shell Collector's Cottage
Description
Welcome to the Shell Collector’s Cottage, a lovely safe and soulful shell to tuck yourself into for the duration of your stay. This self-contained cottage apartment is nestled in the heart of beautiful Muizenberg village, just a two-minute walk from the shhh shhh of the seashore and from local cafés, galleries and shops. It’s beautiful here. White walls, wooden floors, a sash window with shutters and much-loved plants set the tone for this light-filled studio space. Simple. Thoughtful. Happy. The space The Shell Collector's Cottage is a beautiful private studio in shades of white, sage and the light wooden glow of original Oregon-pine flooring. The cottage has a queen-size bed. For guests who prefer not to share, a pop-up single bed is available on request. The all-purpose table is ideal for both a candlelit dinner or setting up a laptop or two for remote work with fast and dependable wifi. The full kitchen includes a fridge+freezer; stove+oven; dishwasher and all the bits and pieces you need. You have your own sunny private outside area with a small table, cushions and birds and bees that visit the pretty hanging plants. The bathroom consists of a gas shower, basin, toilet and pretty mirrored vanity cabinet. Bath and beach towels are provided. We've recently installed an additional laundry cupboard for the exclusive use of residents of The Shell Collector's Cottage. It includes a washing machine, drying rack, iron and ironing board. Guest access The Shell Collector's Cottage is a small private studio residence for one or two people. It has its own courtyard gate and front door. Access is from the street door, through a cobbled courtyard, and down a looong shell-encrusted path to your courtyard gate. You are most welcome to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while relaxing on the pretty benches in the front cobbled courtyard near the shared main entrance - or to just hang there while you wait for an Uber or food delivery as it's right next to the street entrance. Other things to note The streets of historical Muizenberg Village were built in the time of horse and carts and are narrow with limited parking. You'll probably not find a parking right outside the property, but you will find one in the neighbourhood. The Shell Collector's Cottage is very well positioned for a quick uber pick up and, if you'd like to try something different, there is a Tuk Tuk service that can whizz you between Muizenberg and nearby Kalk Bay, and all around the Cape Peninsula if you wish. We'll pass on the contact details so you can book. We've put together a printed local guide that you'll find on your arrival in case you need inspo on where to eat, drink, play and visit. We'd love you to have an amazing time so please do ask us questions about our amazing 'hood.
