Slow Stay at Roebuck Farm

Description

A slow stay amongst the gardens. Tucked away on Roebuck Farm, our private guesthouse sits amongst the market gardens where we grow organic produce for local restaurants + stores. Just 12 mins from New Plymouth, it offers a chance to step away from the pace of everyday life + reconnect with simplicity: birdsong, fresh air, seasonal food + slow mornings. Whether you're harvesting for dinner, reading in the afternoon sun or enjoying an authentic farm-to-plate breakfast, this is a place to savour. The space Why it’s special Roebuck Farm is more than a place to stay. It is a working organic farm, a creative home + a celebration of slow living. We believe beauty can be found in the everyday: growing food, preparing a meal, reading a good book, watching the weather move across the landscape. Guests often tell us they leave feeling rested, inspired + reconnected to the things that matter most. If you're looking for a place to pause, create, reflect and enjoy life at a gentler pace, we'd love to welcome you. Your guesthouse sits at the edge of our working market gardens, surrounded by rows of vegetables, herbs and flowers that change throughout the year. Open the door in the morning to birdsong, wander through the gardens with a coffee in hand, or gather a few herbs to cook with later. Inside you'll find a thoughtfully furnished space designed for comfort and simplicity. Quality linen, restored furniture, local pottery and views across the gardens create a sense of calm that encourages guests to slow down and stay awhile. Beyond the farm, Taranaki's beaches, walking trails, galleries and mountain landscapes are all within easy reach, making the guesthouse an ideal base for both exploration and rest. Optional Roebuck Farm Breakfast: a slow morning begins with good ingredients. Enjoy a farm-to-plate breakfast featuring eggs from the farm, seasonal garden produce, house-made focaccia and preserves, and locally smoked bacon. Everything is provided for you to cook and enjoy in your own time. $25 per person or $45 for two. Let us know before arrival if you would like this option. Guest access The guesthouse is yours to enjoy throughout your stay. Wander amongst the gardens, watch the changing rhythm of the seasons, and make yourself at home in this quiet corner of the farm. Roebuck Farm is a working organic market garden, so you will catch glimpses of daily farm life as crops are planted, harvested and cared for. While we're often nearby, we aim to give guests the space to fully relax and settle into the slower pace of the farm. Other things to note Roebuck Farm is home to organic market gardener and educator Jodi Roebuck, whose work shapes everything that happens here day to day. Jodi runs a working market garden on site, growing seasonal produce for restaurants, stores and visitors, while also continuing to develop and refine intensive organic growing systems in real time. Alongside the farm, Jodi works internationally as a consultant and educator in small-scale regenerative market gardening. His influence extends across hundreds of farms globally, supporting growers to develop more productive, resilient and sustainable systems. He is regularly engaged for consultation and advisory work within the international market gardening community, including regenerative initiatives such as Udabno in the Republic of Georgia, The Regrarians in Australia + with JM Fortier The Market Gardener in Canada. The farm sits within a wider network of growers and practitioners in New Zealand and internationally, with ongoing exchange around soil health, regenerative practice and small-scale food systems. Guests are staying in a working farm where ideas around food, land and sustainability are actively lived, tested and shared through the gardens outside your door.
