Adirondack Mountain Yurt at Blue Pepper Farm
Escape to our 30’ yurt atop a 25-acre pasture with breathtaking views of Whiteface mountain. Accommodating 2 to 6 guests, it’s perfect for family outings or adventures with friends. A winter camping experience: the yurt features basic insulation and is heated by a wood stove, with firewood for purchase on-site. Bring sleeping bags and slippers for warmth in colder temps. Embrace nature’s beauty—plan accordingly, read our reviews, and feel free to ask any questions. Your adventure awaits! The space Please make sure to read the entire listing for details. Its a 30' diameter yurt with 3 double hung windows and a plexiglass dome to allow natural light in. There is electricity - kitchen lights, a few lamps and some string lights, a fridge, and outlets in the kitchen and bedrooms. There's a propane stovetop and counter tops inside with a propane grill outside. Basic kitchen necessities for cooking/eating. It’s a 40' path to a composting outhouse, just toss some wood shavings in after each use. There is NO running water at the yurt - there is a 5 gallon water jug and a 2 gallon drinking jug that you can fill from the blue hydrant by the pump house across the driveway. (** lift all the way up and wait a few seconds for water to flow - see photos, fully close handle after use). That kitchen space is for SUMMER USE ONLY- separate listing. Please never pour anything down the drains. There is a wood stove for heat - please READ the instruction page next to the stove That is the only small heat source and will take a while to warm up and take the edge off. Stove warms yurt up 40 degrees F above outside temp. Firewood available for purchase at the farm or at the many roadside stands locally. Depending on temperature, guests burn roughly $2-20/night. Due to potentially invasive insects, please do not bring firewood from more than 50 miles away. THIS IS A CAMPING EXPERIENCE ****The yurt has only basic insulation. If staying with us in colder temperatures, you should be comfortable camping in the fall or winter and bring appropriate clothing, sleeping bags and gear for the temperatures.**** There is an electric blanket on the queen beed. Please understand this is not a fully conditioned space, and will most likely be cold when you arrive. It is rustic, adventurous lodging - similar to renting a backcountry hut, except you can drive right up to it and its on a cool little farm with phenomenal views! Read past reviews, come prepared, ask questions. By choosing to stay with us, you're not only supporting our farm and family directly, but also contributing to the vitality of our small mountain community. We believe in the transformative power of local dollars circulating within our local economy, bolstering local businesses, and fostering a sense of interconnectedness among neighbors. Your decision to book with us means more than just finding a comfortable place to lay your head – it's a commitment to sustainable tourism and the preservation of the unique character of the Adirondacks. We look forward to welcoming you into our home and sharing the beauty of this place with you. Guest access You have access to the yurt and much of the farm. **All fences are electrified and Remy the sheep dog claims the pastures as his. You're welcome to walk/ski/snowshoe around the perimeter of the pasture outside of the fence. Please stay out of the barns/shops unless on a tour with us, and be calm around our livestock. We are a small sheep dairy with 48 +/- mature sheep and 70-90 lambs from April-November. We also have a flock of 150 or so laying hens for eggs. Lamb, eggs, yarn, wool blankets and sheepskins are available from the farm (and our yogurt May-November!). There is a tiny house 200' through the woods from the yurt that shares the driveway and woodshed. The green farmhouse is also a rental. Please be mindful of their presence if occupied, we ask the same of those guests. Enjoy! Other things to note Assume all fences are electrified. Guard dogs that live with sheep are friendly, but working guard dogs, not pets - respect their space. Never go inside the fence. Keep your dogs under your control while on the farm - if that requires a leash please use one. Bring slippers and sleeping bags, there are a few blankets in the yurt.
