Ocean and jungle mountains meet at the edge of the pool at our Mountain House. A two-bedroom villa perched above Sámara on twenty acres of private farmland. Floor-to-ceiling views, luxury finishes throughout, and a working farm just outside the door make this the most complete stay at The Retreat. The space Two ensuite bedrooms — one king, one queen with two single bunkbeds which open onto a great room where kitchen, dining, and living flow toward floor-to-ceiling views. Natural stone, warm wood, luxury finishes throughout. Outside, the pool looks out across jungle mountains to the Pacific, framed by manicured grounds that give way to twenty acres of working farmland. On the property Blue Mountain Farms is a working fruit and coffee farm at heart — twenty acres of coffee, star fruit, plantains, lime, chili pepper, and more, tended year-round. Guests are welcome to walk the plantation, see the coffee drying process in the greenhouse, and harvest herbs — lemongrass, mint, Thai basil, oregano — straight from the garden. A cluster of Mariola stingless bee hives sits on the property, part of a small, low-impact pollinator operation. A short hike down a railed concrete path leads to a river and a series of waterfalls, and trails wind across the rest of the property for anyone who wants to explore further. At the top of the property, an open lot catches some of the best sunsets in Guanacaste and doubles as the campfire spot.
