Dogo Onsen – One of Japan’s oldest hot springs, rich in history and charm. Our renovated riverside home accommodates up to 8 guests, making it perfect for families, friends, or work retreats. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and a clothes dryer – everything you need for a comfortable long stay. Shops and restaurants are nearby, making daily life easy and convenient. Guests have exclusive use of all areas, including the garden, organic vegetable field, and chicken coop – feel free to harvest seasonal vegetables and fresh eggs during your stay. On-site parking is available for up to 2 small cars or 1 large vehicle. If you have more than one large car, we can arrange free parking nearby – just let us know in advance. The clear Asamigawa River is just a 1-minute walk away – perfect for swimming in summer, fishing in winter, or simply relaxing by the water. Nearby Sameura Dam offers canoeing, SUP, cycling, and scenic walks. In autumn, the mountains turn vibrant red and gold; in winter, cozy up indoors with the peaceful sound of the river outside. We live nearby and are happy to share local tips, maps, and itineraries. Whether you’re here for a week-long Shikoku adventure or a slow countryside escape, this is your home base for both discovery and relaxation. 【The space】 1st floor: Living and dining room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, entrance hall, porch, Japanese-style room (with futon mattresses). 2nd floor: Bedroom (2 semi-double beds), extra room. Facilities for a comfortable long stay: Fully equipped kitchen with basic cookware, tableware, and seasonings Gas stove(for cooking) Washing machine (with detergent) Clothes dryer High-speed Wi-Fi Parking for 2 small cars or 1 large car Vegetable garden and herb plants available for guest use The first floor features a spacious kitchen and a living/dining area in a Japanese-modern style. Bathrooms and toilets are newly renovated with modern fixtures. Two verandas, front and back, lead directly to the garden and vegetable patch. The main bedroom is on the second floor with 2 semi-double beds. For 3–8 guests, futons can be laid out in the Japanese-style room on the 1st floor. 【Nearby attractions】 Asamigawa River – 1-minute walk, clear waters for swimming, fishing, or riverside walks. Sameura Dam – 3 minutes by car, enjoy canoeing, SUP, cycling, and scenic lake views. Scenic rice terraces – Takasu (Tosa Town) and Yoshinobu (Motoyama Town) within 15 minutes. 【Host】 We are originally from Tokyo and moved to Kochi Prefecture to enjoy country living. We live nearby and can provide local travel tips, countryside experiences, and advice for those interested in relocating. Communication available in English, or Japanese. Guests are welcome to learn about local wild plants or join seasonal activities. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of all areas, including the garden, vegetable field, and chicken coop. Other things to note ・Cleaning during your stay We normally do not provide cleaning during your stay. For long stays, cleaning and bedding changes can be arranged for an additional fee: Up to 2 guests: ¥8,000 per visit Each additional guest (3rd person and beyond): +¥2,000 per person Example: Cleaning for 6 guests = ¥8,000 + (¥2,000 × 4) = ¥16,000 per visit. Please let us know in advance if you would like this service. ・Noise This is an older building, so sound can travel easily. Out of respect for our quiet residential neighborhood, please avoid loud voices or noise at night. ・Restaurants As this is a small countryside town, some restaurants close early. We recommend calling ahead to confirm opening hours. ・Kitchen & Shopping Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, cookware, and seasonings. Supermarkets, convenience stores, and drugstores are within a 15-minute walk, making it easy to prepare meals during your stay.
