Description

This 1895 Warner Homestead has a lot of unique features in the house as well as a history in the area. The three-bedroom, 3 full bath home was finished being remodeled in 2023 to add modern conveniences but still keep the farmhouse charm. Just a mile and a half from the center of downtown Wooster to take advantage of all the quaint shops, restaurants and sites. The homestead sits on 61 acres with a large yard while also enjoying in the distance the lights of Wooster. The space This makes a nice couples stay, each having their own private rooms. All bedrooms and two full baths are upstairs. Downstairs has the game room, living room, one full bath, dining room and kitchen that is fully stocked with appliances and utensils to make a holiday family meal. There is lots of yard area to run around and then relax on the patio and enjoy a fire. Almost daily you can see deer and other wildlife roaming in the distance. Other things to note The yard stretches from field to field in all three directions. If you walk along the corn crib and continue back until you reach the field, you will see a cement lane heading east. This will lead you to the cemetery that was a part of the farm until 1994 and deeded over to the Oak Chapel Methodist Church as the Warner Pioneer Cemetery. In the cemetery, you will also find a monument that was created by stones from the original block house built on our property for protection from the Indians. An addition of an elevator was installed for the daughter, who had polio, to access her bedroom and also the main floor of the house. When we purchased the homestead the lower part of the elevator and the mechanism was submerged in water for years. It was rusted and we were unable to get it working again. We removed the elevator but kept the shaft and created the nook for the games, movies, books, etc on the main floor and the second story now is converted to a small walk-in closet.
