The house was built in 2021 on a 2-acre property, and with sustainability and efficiency in mind. The home was awarded a platinum certification by the Coconino County for the Sustainable building program. 2-foot-thick walls on the east/north/west sides are insulated with hay bales to keep the interior nice and cozy. The south facing wall is 8" thick and has two large glass patio doors, which allows for great passive solar heat. All of this promotes a comfortable space despite the cold temps outside. You'll be impressed on how little you will have to stoke the fire during the day! Solar system and auto backup generator provides power for the home. Water is hauled to the property, so we are thankful when guests are conscious of this and careful not to waste our limited utilities. The kitchen has some basics stocked: Utensils, gas range/oven, refrigerator/freezer, kitchen sink with hot and cold water. 1 bathroom with hot shower. 3 beds, 1 pull out couch, sleeps 5. Guest access WE REQUIRE OUR GUESTS TO HAVE 4X4 OR AWD IN THE WINTER. The house is off Highway 180 and on gravel/icey/snowy roads that are unmaintained by the forest service in the winter. It is up to neighborhood efforts to clear and move snow. Access to the neighborhood is restricted to only residents and guests in the winter. You will have to unlock a gate to access, we will provide the gate code once booked.
