Estate Lucky Bottom is an 18 acre former Danish plantation established c1746. Its secluded private residence was built in 2004 replicating Danish West Indies architecture of the mid 18th century seen throughout the Territory. Ruins of the windmill and sugar factory are still present. The owners invite guests to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of this magnificent property while acknowledging respectfully the servitude and suffering of the enslaved people who toiled here 200 yrs ago. The space 4 bedrooms are ensuite: king, queen, queen and twin. One of the queen rooms is located on garden level. All other bedrooms are located on the main level. Please specify bed selections at the time of booking so rooms can be prepared for your arrival. This property is gated. IMPORTANT NOTE: The maximum number of guests permitted is 6. Lucky Bottom is not a property well-suited to children under 12. The swimming pool is accessible from the main living spaces without restriction. Access to the house is easy through the main courtyard without stairs, however two historic welcoming arm staircases descend from the main living spaces to the yard presenting fall risks to young children. Our home contains fine furnishings, fabrics and glass topped coffee tables with sharp edges. Guest access Guests enjoy the entire property to themselves. Lucky Bottom is very private, surrounded by mountain forests. It is the perfect location for seclusion and privacy while overlooking the ocean and on clear days views of St Thomas, St John and the British Virgin Islands. Access is by gate codes and key boxes for your convenience Please be alert to information you will receive days prior to your visit concerning codes for access. Other things to note Easy access to Cane Bay from airport where rental vehicles are available. Advanced reservations are strongly recommended. We drive on the LEFT in the USVI. A small community of local West Indian families who have lived here for generations welcome visitors and settlers, mostly from the U.S., into La Vallee/Cane Bay/ Northshore. We are a laid-back hidden gem; the most tropical area of the island where our mountains fall into the ocean for miles along a rugged coast and two fabulous beaches are just a mile apart - Cane Bay and Davis Beach at Carambola Lucky Bottom backs up to Mount Eagle, the tallest mountain on the island. If you are a hiker, it’s a challenge and worth it! The tide pools west of the Carambola beach resort are a favorite moderate hike. The rain forest is a short drive over the mountain and high profile ATV vehicles can traverse the less travelled mountain paths all the way to Frederiksted. The famous “wall” in Cane Bay attracts divers from far away and the local dive shop, steps from Lucky Bottom has everything you need. Carambola beach is a “must do” and is one mile down the road Likewise, if you are a golfer, Carambola Golf Course is semi-private, so just call for your reservation. Surprisingly, many people tell us they plan to chill around the pool. Lucky Bottom is the perfect hide-out.
