Large triplex in a 1908 brownstone, architectural gem with world eclectic décor. It includes a gourmet kitchen, formal dining room, formal living-room, and garden for the use of Airbnb guests. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Great space/amenities for events, couples and families. Walking distance to Apollo Theater, Columbia Uni., trendy restaurants, jazz venues, and a 20 min subway ride to Times Square. (Film crews additional fee) The space This is a large, luxurious home in the heart of the lively neighborhood of Harlem. It was just upgraded in 2023 to accommodate a new heating/cooling environmentally friendly heat-pump XXI century technology system; we also recycle and try to do our best for the environment. Amazing amenities and plenty of room. Gourmet eat-in kitchen, elegant parlor floor (that includes a formal dining room and living-room with a concerto grand piano) make it unique. It is very unusual to have so much space on the heart of the island of Manhattan. So much history and original architectural details in a brownstone (6 original fireplaces)! From Jelly Roll Morton to Harlem Gospel Choir, and Madeleine Peyroux have played in our concerts and parties, and have filled these walls with music and joy. The lush backyard garden has outdoor furniture a gas grill and a delightful and peaceful Japanese koi pond and reading nook. The front patio is also beautiful and a lovely place to enjoy the neighborhood activities with a seating bistro table and chairs. The owners live on the 4th floor which has two bedrooms and its own kitchen, separated from guests triplex, though the entrance of the building is shared by Airbnb guests and the owner. Guest access The house just add an environmentally friendly upgrade in 2024 with heat-pumps (aerothermal) installed for heating and cooling; we got rid of the old oil-heating system and entered the XXI Century trying to be more respectful to the planet. The four-story house has basically two residences with a common entrance and spaces. The top 4th floor is where the owner lives and the triplex below is rented to Airbnb guests (two bedrooms available and a daybed in the living-room; if you want only one we grant a discount). The staircases give access to all floors. No elevator. We are a legal AirBnB and licensed with the city of New York. During your stay We will meet, welcome and show you about the house. Following this greeting, the 3 floors will be yours, but we share stairs and entrance door. You will have our phone numbers and contacts to facilitate your stay. We will provide you with tips on where to eat, to go, what to visit, where the close supermarkets are (the closest supermarket only two minutes away, and WholeFoods organic supermarket on 125th street also very close), how to discover the neighborhood and the city to make your stay truly wonderful. We promise it will be memorable experience! Other things to note Extra treat for jazz lovers: Quintessential Harlem! Now that the city has just about returned to pre-Covid conditions you will have access to several jazz venues within walking distance. One is s a very special, secret Jazz joint only a block away! The best fried chicken and shrimp dinner in Harlem. Amazing live music! Many guests have called this the highlight of their NY experience. Reliable public transportation (subway and bus) is a short walk away (red line express trains 2 and 3; as well as express A and D, and local subway C and B which are blue and orange lines are just 7 mins walking from the house). Taxis and Uber always available. Free and safe street parking is on a first come basis, reasonably priced (for NYC) parking garage is one block away. For your convenience, there is a washer and dryer in the kitchen. Also a variety of pantry items ( bread, butter, orange juice, coffee, tea, sugar, spices, and much more upon arrival) for your use.
