Shed4, on the north facing hillside of our property in Cockatoo, offers views of natural bush, rural paddocks, and the distant ranges. You may wander and explore or just enjoy the wildlife and birdsongs from the deck or through the bi-fold doors and inside comfort. Shed4 is enhanced by an open fire in cooler weather and a split system air conditioner for the hotter days/nights. A kitchenette of basic facilities and electric BBQ allows for self-catering. Peaceful. Private. Comfy. The space The 10 acre hill top property is surrounded by larger acreages; the northern outlook takes in farmland, bush, and the Warburton Ranges; and looking south distant views of Western Port and Port Phillip can be seen. Conveniently located an hour from Melbourne CBD, Shed4 is in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges and central to The Yarra Valley, Gippsland, and Phillip Island. Local Cafes and Restaurants, Take away venues and supermarkets are within a 10 minute drive encompassing the small towns of Emerald, Cockatoo, and Gembrook. Guest access Shed4 building renovations transformed the site from a large, and broken garden shed into bespoke accommodation. Shed4 was rebuilt using recycled and locally milled timber, featuring industrial sourced fittings. Multi-fold double glazed doors open onto the viewing deck creating a seamless indoor/outdoor transition. Originally the renovations were to house our interstate family when visiting home, and family and friends from the suburbs of Melbourne seeking a close but rural escape. Their enjoyment of this space and their encouragement to share it more widely began our new venture with Airbnb. Due to Shed4s origins it is distanced 50 metres from our home yet is separated by the carpark, a large closed wood shed, bush and garden providing complete privacy and space to all parties. Other things to note Enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine on the north facing deck with an abundance of bird Iife, meandering echidnas, and bouncing kangaroos within your gaze. You may hear the renowned steam train Puffing Billy making its way through the valley below. If you'd like to stretch your legs beyond the deck, a ridge top walk taking in the northern and southern views is a must. Venturing further afield Emerald Lake Park, Gembrook, and Sherbrooke Forest are popular destinations for walking or cycling. Healesville Sanctuary, Warburton Trail, and the Yarra River are all attractions within an easy half-hour drive. Motorcyclists enjoy the country roads through the Warburton and Strzelecki Ranges, Black Spur, and Marysville. Our area is varied, from the coast to the mountains, beautiful, close to nature, and a most relaxing and rewarding place to spend time.
