The countless hiking and biking trails are the best way to explore the beauty of the Emmental. Our two dogs and four cats look forward to petting sessions. Chamois and deer can be observed with some luck if they come to the house to graze within a few meters. The charm of the old farmhouse makes you forget everyday stress and invites you to read or play games. A sauna or a raclette or fondue on the covered terrace complete a day of relaxation. Thanks to the good Internet connection, our retreat can also be used ideally for work. Video calls or sending large amounts of data are no problem at all. The vacation studio is spread over two floors. On the ground floor there is a living room, a dining room or work table, as well as an open kitchen with all the essentials. On the upper floor, which is laid out as a gallery, is the spacious bedroom with a panoramic window facing the sunrise side. The 1.80-wide double bed with blankets and pillows made of purely natural materials ensures a restful sleep. The bathroom with an open shower is also on the upper floor. Other things to note Our house is located at the top of a mountain at 1140 m above sea level. The paths from the two villages of Langnau and Wasen, located in the valley, lead about 10 to 20 minutes via serpentines on roads (except for the last 100 meters) that are paved, but still relatively narrow and steep. In winter conditions, four-wheel drive or at least snow chains are essential for emergencies. Unfortunately, the apartment is not accessible or only very poorly accessible by public transport (in the summer months, a bus runs four times a day on weekends from both Langnau and Wasen). There are no shops within walking distance of the apartment. In Langnau, however, there is the Ilfiscenter with Coop, pharmacy, etc., a Migros MM, a small organic shop, a bulk store and various specialty stores. Our kitchen is equipped with various pots and pans, all necessary dishes and cutlery, a filter coffee machine, a raclette oven and a fondue caquelon. Oil, vinegar (also balsamic vinegar), spices such as salt, pepper, paprika, cinnamon, turmeric, nutmeg, etc. are always available. Also included in the basic equipment are pasta, pesto, muesli, coffee, various teas and sugar. Since we attach great importance to sustainability, all these products are organically grown. For breakfast, coffee and tea, as well as cereals, are always available in the kitchen. There are also usually various homemade breads that you can get from us ("Bärner Züpfe," walnut honey bread, muesli bread, ginger turmeric bread, two-colored lemon wild garlic braid). If your arrival leads via Wasen i.E., we recommend a short stopover at the farm shop of Chäsi Wasen. In addition to the Gruyère from the Fritzenhaus dairy, which was crowned world champion in 2020 and 2022, there are many other regional delicacies to buy. In addition to many different types of cheese, you will also find other dairy products, meat, vegetables, bread, etc. Actually everything for everyday use. The self-service farm shop is open daily from 6 am to 9 pm. A tourist tax is also payable in the municipality of Langnau. For 2024, this is set at CHF 1.00 per adult aged 16 and over per day. We kindly ask you to bring the money for the tourist tax in cash at check-in.
