Description

Freshly renovated, open plan two bedroom apartment on the second floor with a small balcony and views of the MCG and city skyline. Across the road from a nice park and one block from the Yarra River. Street parking is free with no restrictions. Unlimited 50Mbps WiFi. Foxtel Cable TV with access to your favourite streaming services. Airlink Headphones provided. Alexa Smart Home, Aircon, Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, Gas Stove, Ice Maker, Coffee Machine, Green Screen. Quiet, spacious and comfortable. The space This apartment is set in the leafy suburb of Hawthorn on the edge of Richmond, and has been recently renovated with a new kitchen, new carpet and freshly painted. The apartment has black out curtains and venetian blinds. If you have a car, there are almost always plenty of unrestricted free parking spots right outside the front of the building. During the day the apartment is sunny with a large tree shading the balcony, a nice park across the road and the Yarra River a block away with a hiking trail leading to Victoria Gardens shopping centre and forested hiking tracks. You can follow the river for hours and barely see civilisation. Its amazing that this much nature exists so close to the city. There is a tram stop 200m down the hill that will take you to the city in 10 minutes. This tram stop is on the corner of Bridge Road, Richmond, where you will find heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants, beginning with the Bridge Hotel and McDonalds. To use public transport in Melbourne, including trams, you need a 'Myki card' for each person. You can buy some from the 7 Eleven five minutes walk from here. Its probably $4 per person to get to the city by tram using a Myki card. Alternatively it costs about $20 to catch an Uber, which will take you door to door. Depends how adventurous you're feeling. As night falls, you can see the sun set behind the Melbourne skyscrapers from the balcony or the second bedroom, and the views from the dining area, kitchen and main bedroom are also quite beautiful. You will see the bright lights of the MCG flick on most nights of the year, with the colourful, sparkly lights of the city skyline behind it. Sunsets from up here are often spectacular, as are storms and on special occasions, fireworks. The electric recliner sofa and armchair are exceptionally comfortable with adjustable headrests and a USB port to keep your phone charged, while the reverse cycle air conditioner will keep you toasty warm or refreshingly cool with the aircon remote. The 55 inch smart TV is hooked up to Foxtel Cable TV, which includes the movies package, cartoon and music channels, documentary and news channels, voice controlled movie search and access to your favourite streaming services and free to air TV. Please note that streaming services outside of Foxtel require your own accounts to log in. Go to the 'Apps' tab in the Foxtel menu to access them. Try the wireless Airlink TV headphones with personal volume control if you want a more cinematic experience, or watch movies with High Fidelity audio through the Mega Boom 'sound bar'. There are five Alexa speakers around the apartment that can play nearly any song you can think to request (Amazon Music Full Subscription is currently active), on all speakers in the apartment simultaneously if you want, or she can tell you the news and weather or dim the lights. Just say, 'Alexa, dim the light to ten percent,' or 'Alexa, turn on the bedroom fan,' or 'Alexa, play music everywhere (all speakers).' This gimmicky smart home stuff isn't for everyone, but its nice to not have to get out of the comfy armchair to flick a switch when you're reclined with a bowl of popcorn on your lap, or get out of bed to turn off the ceiling fan. The green balcony lights (you can ask Alexa to change their colour) activate at sunset to illuminate the balcony tree until sunrise. The pantry, toilet and bathroom lights and shower fan are motion activated. The strip light in the kitchen is usually left on 24 hours a day. You can change its colour if you like. The dining room table and chairs fold away to maximise space if you have a VR headset or want to do some morning Yoga on the lovely, soft carpet. The main bedroom has a comfy new queen bed and overlooks the park across the road. It also has a large monitor if you want to hook up your laptop via HDMI. The main bedroom also has a ceiling fan that you can turn off and on with your voice or use one of the bedroom wall switch buttons. The second bedroom has been set up as a working green screen studio. It has a desk overlooking the Melbourne skyline and basic studio lighting mounted on the ceiling. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to work, this is the perfect place. There is also a comfortable double bed with extra pillows and blankets. It includes a monitor you can plug into your laptop. This room also has an awning outside the window that you can open and close with a remote control. Both bedrooms have a floor fan and ample space to hang and put your clothes away. The mirror light in the bathroom is bright and positioned above the mirror for good reflection. There is also a floor to ceiling wall mirror in the mini hall, as well as a free standing mirror in the main bedroom. The shower pressure is really good. The kitchen has stone benchtops - never cut on them - use chopping boards. All the essentials you need to cook are in the kitchen including pots, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery, wine glasses, coffee mugs, kettle, toaster, microwave, stove, oven, ice dispenser fridge, etc. There is a dishwasher, a washing machine and dryer in there too. Coffee and tea provided. Cleaning products and detergent etc are under the sink and the bins are in the cupboards under the toaster. If you need a supermarket, there are several nearby, but my favourite is Coles in Kew because parking is easy and its never busy. There are blinds and curtains throughout the apartment. The full list of Alexa commands you need for the apartment can be found in the House Manual on this website. Guest access You will be able to access the whole apartment except for a few cupboards. Other things to note This place is luxurious and comfortable. The views are stunning. The walls are thick so you won't hear the neighbours. Occasionally you will hear birds walking around or the pitter patter of rain on the tin roof, but other than that, the sounds of cars and passing trams are dulled by the apartment complex itself. This unit is furthest away from the security gate and street entrance. In nearly all directions, surrounding buildings are lower than you, so there is a view out every window and you have privacy. This is a smart home that allows you to control lights with voice commands, but you don't have to. If you want, just use the light switches. You don't need to ask Alexa what the weather is like, or to tell you the news, or to play 'California Dreamin' on all speakers at once by saying 'Alexa, play California Dreamin everywhere'. But we hope you do. And as you enjoy your favourite drink, cooled by crushed ice from the ice maker, watching the sun set behind the Melbourne skyline from the studio desk or the balcony that feels like a treehouse as the lights of the MCG turn on, we hope you love the feeling of staying in this apartment as much as we do. Plenty of free parking, ten minute tram rides to the city, nature walks along the river and plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants are right out the front.
