Cosy hideaway in stunning Peak District location

Description

The Hope Valley Hideaway is a beautiful stone barn next to my home in the hillside Peak District village of Grindleford, an outdoors hub with a friendly vibe. It's the perfect place to cosy up after a day walking, running, cycling, climbing, foraging or swimming and surrounds you with an exceptional level of comfort and beauty, lovingly curated with regenerative and sustainable living in mind. Walk 5 mins to National Trust woods and swim spot, 20 mins to breathtaking views or the train station. The space The Hope Valley Hideaway is a cosy, comfortable retreat with light, airy rooms and plenty of homely touches. Downstairs, you enter wide glass doors where the light pours in on a sunny day into the well-equipped kitchen space, with all you need to cook for your friends and family. Next to the kitchen is the dining space which seats 6 and an additional breakfast bar which seats 3. From the photos you can see that you can dress this for a formal meal just as easily as you can grab a quick family breakfast. Both spaces also make great work areas and have sockets nearby. The lounge area is snug and well stocked with extra blankets - although the whole property is so well insulated and heated tile floor that you're unlikely to need these. There's a sofa to sit 3-4, an armchair and two comfy footstools. You can turn the bar stools around for extra seating too, or there are spare chairs upstairs. We've provided writing material, games and guidebooks for evenings. On the first floor there is a luxurious master bedroom with full ensuite bathroom, a well-equipped family bedroom with two full bunks and a small double sofa bed. The family room is well-stocked with lego, kapla and Knex for down time and rainy days as well as a changing table. There's lots of storage space, mirrors and lighting around the place too. Throughout the Hideaway, you’ll find yourself using an array of beautiful upcycled and reclaimed objects; there is intentionally very little plastic. The carpets are sourced from British sheep farms, the bathroom floors made from sustainable cork. It's all powered by air source heating and solar energy. Guest access You have access to all of the indoor space described with the exception of a few owners cupboards. Outside, I ask that you stick to the paved patio and front seating area. The area beyond the side farm gate is private and often has lose animals - dogs and chickens - so please keep the gate shut at all times. Other things to note Outside space Outside the front of the property, you'll have access to a small courtyard space with outdoor dining furniture. There's also a small den/tree climbing area across the driveway which is fun for more independent young children who are car-savvy. My front door is located nearby. The wider farmyard belongs to my neighbours and is private. The garden to the rear is also private (see above) but the village and surrounding area is so rich in nature, and the fantastic playground is so close, that this isn't likely to restrict you. There is no rear entrance/exit to the property. Quiet times The Hideaway is located in a peaceful residential farmyard, and operates quiet times from 9pm to 7am, with complete silence from 10pm. There’s a handy pub 20 metres down the lane for late night socialising. Seasonality and foraging Seasonal living is an important part of the Hideaway experience: I can help you plan snow day fun, dawn walks to catch mist inversions in the autumn, or warm summer bivvies. In season, bilberries abound, the fields and woods crowd with mushrooms and the hedgerows and grasslands are full of flowers and edible greenery. I love to forage for my home and kitchen and can share knowledge and tips with any guests who want to explore this.
