Ex. tampons, pads, personal wipes, paper towels and all items of like. Most parts of Costa Rica, almost everyone is on septic. Toilet paper is harsh as well so courtesy flushes' are appreciated. To encourage responsible usage of the air conditioners, discounted stays 4+ weeks will include a maximum of 800kwH (roughly US$190) of electricity in the price. Overages to be paid by guests. This is plenty for respectful usage of the air conditioners and Washer. Guanacaste Province experiences droughts from December through April. It is not unusual for the water company to have rolling shut offs to help conserve and replenish the water tables. This property does have a dedicated backup holding tank for these times, but we ask that everyone protect the environment and do not overuse this precious resource. Turn off faucets when brushing your teeth or cleaning dishes, reuse your towels, do not use the washing machine unnecessarily or to wash a single item, and let us know right away if there is a leak or running toilet! Retractable Laundry line is located to the right outside the front door. It is not unusual for the power or internet to go out on occasion. Please be patient as it will come back on. Insects & Wildlife This is a tropical country, so you can expect to see a couple of ants here and there, even inside. If you notice many inside, please let us know and we will put out ant-traps. Ants outdoors do a ton for the environment, so please leave them to their busy work! Yes, there are cockroaches in Costa Rica and on rare occasions, you may see one inside. Seeing one indoors does not mean the place is dirty. They will enter if they have been disturbed by construction or spraying (which is done 3 or 4 times a year). They are not like North American cockroaches and seeing one does not mean an infestation. They are not social and don’t live in groups (called an intrusion). There is cockroach spray in the property or feel free to step on it. Please do not leave food or garbage outside. We do have racoons and skunks in Costa Rica that will tear apart the trash. Fun Info: Calie is the local kitty we all tend to take care of. Any scraps, feel free to give them to her. She is very shy. Just place it next to the stairwell while she is watching and she will get to it. Other things to note Tamarindo is my Happy Place and I want to share with you! Well-known for its chill vibe during the day and spirited nightlife, Tamarindo offers something for people of all ages and fitness levels. Surfing, swimming, fishing, sailing, and kayaking are just a few of the water sports that you can enjoy, but there is also hiking, horseback riding, ATV tours, a skate park, and even mini putt - just to mention a few! If you’re more of the “Pura Vida” sort, Tamarindo beach, with its soft sand and wonderful views, is perfect to relax and watch the unforgettable Tamarindo sunsets. At night, after the stunning sunset, the town comes alive with plenty of options for live entertainment and socializing. The Thursday Night Market, located in the parking lot of Tamarindo Gym, is just 4 minute walk and offers a variety of local artisans, international foods, and live entertainment. On Saturday mornings you can visit the Farmer's Market at Oneida Park in downtown Tamarindo where you can purchase fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as other farm-to-table products. But you don't have to wait until Saturday morning. Throughout the week, you can find local farmers selling their products along the streets of Tamarindo. Oneida park has been recently transformed to offer a skate park, basketball courts, and shaded benches. Nearby, you can play a round of golf at the Hacienda Panilla's par 72 Golf Course, along the shores of the Pacific and surrounded by the beautiful Costa Rica landscape. You can also choose high-adrenalin activities like zip-lining, ATV in the mountains, white water-tubing or rafting in the Guanacaste area. Ask us about popular day tours. Tamarindo is a well-lit and fairly safe town, even at night. Crime here tends to be petty crime with pickpocketing or theft when valuables are left unattended on the beach or in a car. Always keep an eye on your things and lock up when you are out. If you do take a vehicle to the beach, put valuables out of sight or, better yet, leave them at the condo.
