Chickadee Lodge-watch Northern Lights in a Jaccuzi
Chickadee Lodge-watch Northern Lights in a Jaccuzi
Description
Relax at this unique, tranquil retreat just 10–15 minutes from downtown Fairbanks and 20 minutes from the airport. In winter, you may see the Northern Lights (seasonal, weather dependent) from the deck, couch, or your private jacuzzi. In warmer months, enjoy the fire pit, Traeger BBQ, birds, and nearby trails. Borrow our snowshoes, sleds, and ice fishing poles for your own Alaska adventure. The space Fairbanks experiences extreme cold. The home is heated by a boiler system that runs continuously, but during severe cold snaps (especially -30°F and below), indoor temperatures may temporarily feel cooler—especially with frequent door opening. Supplemental heaters are provided when needed, and our manager is available to verify system operation. Guest access Guest Access (Winter Driving Important ❄️) Because we live slightly out of town on a hill, we strongly recommend renting a vehicle with 4WD or AWD and dedicated WINTER tires if you’re visiting during the winter months. Our location has some wonderful advantages — privacy, reduced noise and light pollution, and beautiful views — but winter driving conditions in Fairbanks can be very different from what many visitors are used to. Please note: • “All-Season” tires are not the same as Winter/Snow tires. • Most airport rental agencies typically provide all-season tires only. • Some of the most common and reliable winter tires in Alaska are Blizzaks. If you’d like a vehicle equipped with proper winter tires, you may want to consider: • Turo – Local hosts often specify if their vehicle has winter tires. • Alaska Auto Rental (in Fairbanks) – A short taxi ride from the airport. • Alaska 4x4 Rentals – Can provide 4WD vehicles with winter tires if requested in advance. We want your arrival to be smooth and stress-free, and having the right vehicle makes all the difference in Alaska winters! Other things to note The jacuzzi is professionally cleaned and refilled after each stay. A $50 resort fee applies to cover water, sanitation, heating, and treatment. Guests who opt out of using the jacuzzi prior to arrival may receive a refund of this fee.
