Description

Beautiful large rustic cabin w/ extended AZ room for Escudilla Mountain Views and a year-round creek in back! 4 Bedroom/2 Bath + play loft & crib. Extra pull-out sofa in the den. Starlink wifi. 2 monitor workstation. Pet friendly. Within 2 miles of Nelson Reservoir, 5 miles from SIPE Wildlife & Unit 1 for hunting. 30 min to Sunrise Ski Resort and 10 min from Alpine cross-country skiing, tubing, and snowmobile trails at Williams Valley. Back way to Sipe: few hundred yrds 3rd Lt off hwy. The space We are honored that you have chosen our cabin for your family. The cabin is nearly 3000 sq ft. and the cleaning service needs 5 hrs to clean such a big place. Please do not arrive early or stay late, give or take 15 min., unless we have previously arranged this by you reaching out prior to your stay, and I have been able to confirm with the cleaning service the time difference. It is at 7500 ft elevation at the cabin so it is cool and bring sunscreen, especially for hiking the mountain and water:) yes, even in the winter. We have the extra-large, medium, and small crates in the AZ room. Cold waterspout and large water bowl. The dogs enjoy the large, warm windows and view of horses in the corrals next door. Please don't let them on the bedding. It's the fur. Part of the property is fenced for pets. Please do not leave unsupervised because Elk may damage the fencing by jumping over. We walk the property every few months to do repairs as needed. There is a stream running across the back of the property, but it is not stocked with trout. It has some native small fish: Just walk to the back on the right side from the front yard, or use the access door in the barn. Just make sure it is closed and bolted if you have dogs or children when you are not going back there. The Escudilla mountains across the highway are beautiful, and that is the national forest (not private land), walking across. A curious fact is that is where the very last grizzly bear was killed in Arizona. There is a drive access also that wraps up and around the whole thing. Sleeps up to 10. (4BR/2BA + play loft, crib, and large AZ room with mountain view) Pet friendly $50 flat rate per stay. $75 2 pets. Temps down to a low of 20's at night and can snow anytime precipitation comes. There is even snow in December and April! Great place for Tucsonians since the travel time is the same as Flagstaff, and Pinetop and LESS than Payson. We have a DIRECT VIEW of Escudilla Mountain. Elk plenty. Unit 1 for hunters. We are at mile marker 412 and within 2 miles of Nelson Reservoir, 5 miles from SIPE White Mountain Wildlife Area 1,362 acres! Museum and visitor center access is 1st road from cabin on left toward Nelson reservoir. Less than .3 miles or marker 305 (2 access points). See a museum in springerville where it has some surprising items like an original Rembrandt etching and Casa Malpais archeological artifacts and tour of an uncovered village! We are less than 30 min from Sunrise Ski Resort and 10 min from Alpine cross country skiing, tubing, and snowmobile trails at Williams Valley Recreation Area Forestry Road 249 on left off of hwy 180/191. Come enjoy your family in fresh mountain air and probable snow!) 4 Bedroom/2 Bath, 1 Fireplace stove and outdoor fire ring. Nestled in the cool valley between Escudilla Mountain range (3rd highest mountain in AZ) and a rim wall behind property @ 7,500 ft. elevation along Apache National Forest 15 miles South of Springerville/Eager in Nutrioso. Fly fish for trout starts just 2 miles from the cabin at Nelson Reservoir. Cabin Sleeps (up to)12 (1 cal king, 1 queen, 2 full, 2 twin bunk beds,1 twin non bunkbed, 1 pull out sofa sleeper + full size crib. Linen & towels furnished. In greatroom, 49 inch Phillips flatscreen LCD HDTV with Ruku, Blue Ray player, Free Netflix. Lots of children toys and board games... including a full size Thomas the train play table (in Bear room) w/ full Loft and safety ladder w/ dual handrails. Fire ring firewood (pine) Please bring or purchase at local convince stores in small bundles. We are unable to restock fire ring wood between all guest stays, but it may be collected in nearby National Forest for 'small camp fires for free'. The TROUT STOCKING SCHEDULE starts in May and continues weekly through Sept in some streams and lakes. AZ Game and Fish Department sponsors this. Even in the winter there is hold over trout in the Nelson Reservior. Winter only note: Winter only note: The propane grill has a back up tank, but I want to caution that in very low temps after the sun goes down, open the valve very slowly or the safety mechanism built in will be triggered and reduce the flame to tiny. If this happens, turn it all off. Wait 5 minutes and turn it on slowly at the tank. All grills at low temps using propane would have this slow safety start. Guest access The whole cabin excluding the garage where supplies are stored. Keyless Access Entry Code to front door is "behind iron screen" of Az room (inner Porch area). Other things to note Keurig 250 coffee machine (in addition to regular coffee machine). Please bring individual serving cups if you prefer to use it instead. The well water may have a brown or yellow tinge due to iron. IT is safe and has been tested. We have a treatment system installed to remove as much as we can. It's like mineral water up there. Flow is great. The water has high iron content that stains the sinks, toilets, and tubs. It is completely safe (actually mineral-healthy), just not pretty. The fridge filter was just replaced, and you can get ice and water from that, but you can drink, cook, and bath with the regular water. The well system is in the well house and barn room out back. Please make sure those doors stay shut so pipes do not freeze. There are heaters in those spaces. When you arrive at cabin, and if it is too cold, please turn on propane fireplace stove and AZ room Propane wall unit. The stove switch is one the wall in the living room/great room to the garage which is not accessible for guest, but used for cleaning service and yard maintenance storage. There is a single swing at barn and a hammock under the aspen trees. The year round stream is out back (outside of the fenced area) and part of the property. Please do not turn off the propane heating stove (the control is by the garage door) please just turn it down in the 50's or 60. Not Off. It is difficult to get the pilot re-lit under the stove then when it lights, turn it to on. • Call or text us if any problems. Thank you.
