The space The aesthetics of Shiv Niwas are one of understated elegance. Wherever feasible the original flooring, fixtures and fittings have been retained while adding amenities. A shared guest bathroom for early arrivals is on the ground floor. The fully furnished double bedroom for two guests on the first floor has a private bathroom and balcony. A central balcony, living-cum-dining room and well stocked kitchenette on the first floor and roof terrace on the second floor need to be shared with up to three other guests. Ceiling-height laminated glass double-doors with smart locks, in the ground floor for the host's family / acquaintance(s) and first floor for the guests, ensure privacy and security for the residents. The stunning 2,000 square metre greenspace, Uma Vatika, contains manicured grass lawns, flower beds, a wide variety of plants, shrubs and creepers, a vegetable garden, fruit trees (viz. Mango, chiku or sapodilla, jamun or Java plum, kino or tangerine, sharifa or custard apple, shahtoot or mulberry, and lemon), a water fountain and tank, a bar counter, lamp posts, as well as swings, benches, stools, chairs and tables as garden furniture. Smart locks facilitate self check-in and check-out by guests. Indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi routers and access points ensure seamless, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the property, including the roof terrace and the Uma Vatika greenspace. Free car parking is available near the house entrance door. A lightning conductor on the roof terrace provides guests with property-wide protection from lightning strikes. Guest access Guests can use the ground floor shared guest bathroom if they happen to arrive early. The first floor double bedroom with its private bathroom and balcony are for their exclusive use. The central balcony, drawing-cum-dining room kitchenette and second floor roof terrace would need to be shared with up to three other guests. Besides guests the outdoor Uma Vatika greenspace would also be used by the host's family / acquaintance(s). The remainder of the ground floor including the front verandah are out of bounds for guests. During your stay Two lady caretakers reside on the property adjacent to the house to serve guests and provide assistance to them. A double bedroom in the ground floor section is occupied by a couple who are family guests. The host / family members visit often and spend quality time in the ground floor study, dining and living rooms during their visits. During their visits the host / family members would be available to provide assistance to the guests; at other times the host will communicate with guests via the Airbnb app, messaging app, SMS or mobile call. Other things to note The shared kitchenette is stocked with free food items constituting a continental breakfast, viz. Bread, cheese, butter, jam, milk, salt and pepper, sauce, tea, coffee, sugar, cornflakes and muesli, besides cooking oil and spices. The caretakers can also cook meals for a charge. Guests can choose from three Breakfast menu options, including eggs on order. Vegetarian Lunch and Dinner menus are pre-set. However, the paid menu could be customized as per the needs of guests who are the sole guests availing of the meal service at Shiv Niwas. The meal timings are: Breakfast: 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., Lunch: 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., Dinner: 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. To ensure best-in-class service meal orders should be placed with sufficient lead time. However, guests are free to order from outside / prepare in the kitchenette non-vegetarian meals. Guests can use the refrigerator, induction cooker, microwave oven, toaster, electric kettle, Borosil Nutrifresh mixer, Glen electric mini-cooker, crockery, cutlery and kitchen tools in the kitchenette. The caretakers can operate the washing machine in the kitchenette for a fees for washing guest clothes and also iron them for a charge. Paid car cleaning service is also available.
