Chalet Tannenhaus I in the Nockberge Mountains

Enjoy the nature and scenery at Stubeck, at an altitude of 1,640 metres, in our log cabin all year round, whether you’re looking for an active or a more contemplative experience. The cottage is part of the Sonnalm Stubeck alpine village. Two huts serving food and drink are within a 10-minute walk. The artists’ town of Gmünd, with all its amenities, is just 12 km away. The chalet is a paradise for summer and winter hikers alike. Areas such as Katschberg and Lake Millstatt are within 25 km. The space A detached log cabin made from 150 to 250-year-old silver firs, spread over three levels, featuring 4 bedrooms (3 with double beds, 1 with 2 single beds), 3 toilets, 2 bathrooms, 1 shower, 2 terraces with a barbecue area, 1 double balcony and a Finnish sauna with a magnificent view of the Nockberge mountains, suitable for 8 people. 2 additional sleeping places in the living area can be requested as an option. The ground floor comprises a spacious living and dining area with a modern kitchen, a beautiful fireplace, a double bedroom, a bathroom, the entrance hall with a cloakroom and drying room (shoe dryer) and two patio doors. All access points on the ground floor are wheelchair-accessible. Guest access You will always rent the entire cottage for your exclusive use. Only the sauna is shared with the guests staying at the small Tannenhaus Il alpine hut on the same property. These guests have a separate key to access the sauna. Other things to note 1. The small alpine hut, Tannenhaus II, situated on the same plot, can be hired additionally if it is vacant. It can accommodate a further 4 to 5 people. 2. Smoking is not permitted inside our log cabin. Ashtrays are provided outside on the terraces and balconies, as well as in the entrance area and by the barbecue area. 3. Our house is fitted with a modern air-source heat pump, including underfloor heating on all three floors and a hot water system. The fireplace in the living/dining area is fuelled by beech wood, and the Finnish sauna is heated by a modern electric heater. The associated electricity costs and the firewood for the fireplace are included in the price. 4. The local tourist tax is included in the price. 5. There are two charging points for electric vehicles with Type 2 plugs on the property; charging electric vehicles and e-bikes is included in the price. 6. Our Finnish sauna is suitable for at least 6 people and features a window with a view of the mountains, a multifunctional shower (e.g. rain shower), a Kneipp hose, a drinking water basin, a toilet and sauna loungers for the outdoor terrace. Sauna towels and blankets are provided. Please bring your own sauna infusion essences of your choice. 7. On the outdoor terrace of the living/dining area, there is a barbecue and a seating and dining area for 12 people, as well as a beer garden set for cosy get-togethers and enjoying the wonderful distant views. 8. In winter, the surrounding paths and roads are cleared daily by the winter maintenance service. Snow chains are required in winter when there is snow. Hikes on foot, with snowshoes or touring skis, as well as sledge rides down into the valley, are possible from the hut. Eight pairs of snowshoes are available for free use. There is also a boot dryer for ten pairs of boots in the drying room. Snow shovels are available for guests who wish to clear snow themselves. 9. Two staffed alpine huts, the Frido Kordon Hut and the Wölflbauer Hut (please note seasonal opening times), are within walking distance. 10. To get there, take the A10 motorway to the Gmünd exit in Carinthia; from Gmünd, the route leads uphill to the Sonnalm am Stubeck.
