Description

La Terrazza is a traditional Piemontese farmhouse with a swimming pool in the renowned Roero wine district. Its hilltop location offers quiet and privacy, with no direct neighbours, beautiful vistas of the medieval castle and village of Cisterna d’Asti and the Alps, including Mon Viso. La Terrazza is located within the Unesco World Heritage Site of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. The La Terrazza property is just over 1.2 hectares/3 acres in size and is comprised of a fully gated guest area. The space La Terrazza I is the south facing home, making for a wonderful sunlit space all year round. A large guest home for the area at 99m2 (1,070ft2), it features a fully modern, open concept kitchen on the main floor, equipped with gas stove and oven, large size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. The cupboards and drawers are filled with all the equipment you’ll need to cook for and entertain family and friends. The dining room table easily converts from four to six guests. The living room is large with a cozy pull-out couch and easy chairs, wood burning forced air fireplace, a dedicated work space and television with satellite service and HDMI hookup for streaming. This floor is serviced by a full bathroom with a walk-in shower. Al fresco dining is directly outside your front door on the stone-covered patio . featuring a large table and chairs under a gazebo to provide shade and privacy, where you can enjoy the beautiful weather as early as April and as late as November! One flight up the modern, open staircase from the living room you will find two large (19m2/200ft2) sunlit bedrooms, both with access to the south facing balcony via french doors. Each is equipped with a queen size bed or can be configured as two twin beds if preferred. One room also includes a day bed, for a child to sleep. Large vintage wardrobes, chests of drawers and quiet ceiling fans complete the rooms. A spacious “jack and jill” bathroom connects the two bedrooms and features walk-in shower, toilet, bidet and sink. The doors from the bathroom to either bedroom are lockable for privacy. Terrazza I is equipped with hot water radiator heating with thermostats on each floor. Wifi is strong throughout the home and even outside and has plenty of bandwidth for video or music streaming. All water in the home is softened and good to drink. Laundry is available (two washers) in the shared laundry room adjacent to the garage. This property is subject to the Italian Tourist Tax of 1.5 euros/day/adult, which will be collected by our local hosts. Guest access The La Terrazza property is just over 1.2 hectares/3 acres in size and is comprised of a fully gated guest area. Two thirds of the farmhouse has been re-developed into two large, two-bedroom separate homes: La Terrazza I and La Terrazza II. The beautiful new 4x9m (13x30’) saltwater swimming pool with a large stone-covered 275m2 (3,000ft2) patio with plantings offers plenty of room for several groups to enjoy it simultaneously. From the swimming pool patio, you look out to the hazelnut grove as well as to the Alps. Our friends and neighbours, Luigi and Daniela Rabino, manage the grapes and hazelnuts. Additionally, the property is home to two mature fig trees which fruit twice per year as well as several other fruit trees, rose bushes, rosemary bushes and other flowering and fragrant plants all of which guests are encouraged to collect and enjoy – and to water if they are inclined! On the north end of the property, there is another large 110m2 (1200ft2) stone-covered patio with beautiful views of the medieval castle of Cisterna d’Asti, and the surrounding Nebbiolo vineyard. The patio includes an outdoor kitchen comprised of a wood-fired pizza oven, charcoal BBQ and stone sink with running water for entertaining. The patio is fitted with shade sails, a dining table, and chairs as well as lounge chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view. Covered parking for two vehicles is provided in a spacious structure within the gate. At one end of this building is a large laundry room for guests and at the other end a storeroom for gardening equipment, recycling and garbage bins. This is also the location of a generous store of firewood for use in the pizza oven and in the fireplaces inside the units. Additional covered parking for two vehicles is located just outside the gate to the property. Just outside the gate, you will find many beautiful walking trails through vineyards and groves of planted trees. There are endless views from the crests and valleys of these ancient foothills. Many mobile applications show these trails. You can make your walks long or short but they will always be memorable. As La Terrazza is nestled in the rolling hills of the countryside, you will need vehicle transportation. From the top of the drive, turn right and follow your navigation for ten minutes or less to the beautiful and charming town of Canale, your hometown for the duration of your stay. Here you will find anything you might want. You’ll want to plan for Tuesday morning Market Day in Canale, for the best selection of fresh produce, fish, meats, household goods and clothing. On Monday most all shops are closed. There are many restaurants, cafes, pastry shops and butcher stores to discover. If you turn left at the top of the drive and follow navigation to San Damiano d’Asti (again 10 minutes or so) you will find yourself in another charming town with great amenities and a beautiful main square. You should pay a visit to any of the bars there at least once. Market day in San Damiano is Monday. And there are many other villages and towns within a 30 minute radius to explore! Other things to note Wine, cheese and chocolate tasting, bike and scooter rental, truffle and mushroom hunting (in season) can be organized by the property manager on request. Some of these activities are available for extra fees. Registration Details IT005040C2B5JAFMRQ
