We’re a friendly, professional couple working from our Coxhoe home, offering a stylish, comfortable bedroom, fast Wi-Fi, Sky TV, a dedicated private bathroom and shower, and kitchen. The space Welcome to our home! We are Ray and Ben, and we offer a quiet, air-conditioned retreat in Coxhoe. Welcome to our spacious, modern home in the quiet County Durham town. Durham is home to the recently voted most beautiful cathedral. Located in a new landscaped residential development just minutes from the A1 and Durham Services at Bowburn, we offer a private, pet free, AC climate-controlled bedroom in our well-equipped five-bedroom detached home complete with free parking and (chargeable) EV charging. Guests are free to use our kitchen and dining room as well as other facilities in our home. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer, air fryer and washing machine and tumble dryer. Guests are welcome to relax in the snug lounge area, featuring a large-screen TV with Sky. If you need to work, we provide a desk and offer ultrafast fibre internet (900Mbps+), making video calls and 4K streaming a breeze. Whether you’re staying for a night or a month, we’re confident you’ll feel right at home from the moment you arrive. We welcome guests staying one night to several months 🙂 and have hosted short term and long term students, doctors, musicians playing in local theatres, and those visiting Durham for business and leisure purposes. Durham city is just 10 minutes by car or 15 - 20 minutes by bus, offering easy access to Durham Cathedral, Durham Castle, Durham University, and the University Hospital of Durham. Local highlights include Beamish: The Living Museum of the North, the spectacular High Force waterfall, the Viking-themed Kynren experience, and beautiful countryside walks right on our doorstep. Nature lovers will enjoy a nearby cycle path that begins just 100 metres from the house and meanders through scenic woodland, fields and hills. Just next to our home is Coxhoe Quarry Wood, a certified local nature reserve with woodland, grassland, and wildlife—perfect for walks, runs, or bike rides. At home, you’ll have access to our modern kitchen and utility room for meal prep, plus secure storage space for your belongings. Feel free to help yourself to tea, coffee (regular and decaf), sugar, cow’s milk, cereals, hot chocolate, and chilled water from the American fridge freezer. There’s also a coffee machine for a fresh morning boost. The kitchen is well equipped should you wish to prepare meals and cook or even bake! Your private double bedroom includes climate controlled air conditioning, central heating, blackout curtains, a super-comfy iGel mattress, and a walk-in wardrobe for your clothes, cases, and personal items. The dedicated private bathroom with rain shower is just across the hallway, immediately adjacent to the bedroom and used exclusively by you, making it feel almost en suite. Travelling with bikes or large luggage? We can safely store them in our garage. A bus stop just a few minutes’ walk from the estate connects you to Durham, Sedgefield, Bishop Auckland, Darlington and more, with onward rail travel from Durham train station to London, Edinburgh, York, Manchester, Birmingham, and other UK cities. We offer early check-in and late checkout when available for a small additional charge. If you’re arriving early or wish to depart later in the day, just let us know — we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. Our home is shared. Guests can enjoy a private bedroom and bathroom to themselves however communal areas such as the kitchen and dining room are shared with the two homeowners who live and work at the property. Guest access Guests are welcome to enjoy our garden and communal areas, as well as the private bedroom and kitchen/dining space. The snug features a comfortable chair and TV—perfect for relaxing—and we can provide a desk on request if you need to work. The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, and pyrolytic oven for preparing your own meals. There’s also a dining table and breakfast bar for your convenience. For a small donation, guests may use the washing machine and tumble dryer. For stays of seven nights or more, laundry facilities are included at no extra cost. Free parking is available for one car. EV charging is also offered but is not included in the price and is charged separately if needed. Please note, for medical reasons, all service animals and pets are strictly prohibited due to the homeowner’s severe allergies. During your stay Usually we like to welcome visitors in person. During your stay, we’re happy to make recommendations on places to visit and how to get there, to recommend eateries, and local attractions. If we can be of any assistance we are only too happy to help! There are leaflets in the room with local tourist attractions and things to see. We are always happy to let you know our own personal favourite places to go! Durham has some awesome eateries and attractions to explore! We are a quiet professional couple and usually keep ourselves to ourselves, however, one of us would typically be at home working throughout the day to assist, where needed. Otherwise we are only a phone call away. When we are available, we are happy to pick up and drop off from Durham train station or bus station if required, subject to availability and with prior notice, and for a small donation. Please ask us in advance if this would be needed so we can ensure we are available to assist. Other things to note We have a large TV in the bedroom with Sky and subscription services available for your use. High speed fibre internet 🛜 is provided throughout by connecting to our Wi-Fi which offers speeds upward of 750Mbps - great for Zoom, Teams, and streaming 4K movies etc. The bedroom has blackout curtains to aid in a restful, good night’s sleep, and the bed has an iGel mattress for your comfort. Air conditioning is provided with a remote control so you can stay cool in summer and warm in the winter months as you wish. A desk with power and Wi-Fi is made available in the snug room downstairs. We have a monitor and power supply available if required. We live in a small village with a small selection of shops, a pub, and a couple of restaurants. It is easier to get about by car or bike if you’re wanting to experience Durham’s restaurants and supermarkets etc, however, buses also run frequently into Durham and other major towns and cities such as Newcastle, Darlington and Bishop Auckland. We are also a motorbike friendly household should you be arriving by motorbike! Happy to garage any bike for you by prior arrangement. EV charging is possible at an additional cost, please let us know if this is required. We have a 7KWH charger and charge by the KWH consumed as an additional fee to your stay. EV charging is carried out overnight. We are often asked if we have pets. We keep tropical fish, and the home owner is highly allergic to animal dander or animal fur. Finally, we have a safe in our home and we are happy to securely store any valuables or documents during your stay, though this is at your own risk.
