Description
Unwind in our cosy cabin in the midst of the Northamptonshire countryside. Enjoy glorious sunsets, beautiful views, spot the wildlife and watch the livestock. The cabin can sleep 4 adults and two dogs. There are three public footpaths that meet on the farm for you to enjoy lovely walks in the local area. Relax and enjoy! The space The Cabin is a relaxing, comfortable space with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. You can spot wildlife and watch the antics of the cows and sheep in the adjacent fields! We wanted to be as eco-friendly as we can so all the electricity is supplied by solar panels and is completely off-grid. (One day we’ll afford an alternative to the LPG that powers the hot water, central heating and cooker!). The super clever septic system utilises bacteria to turn waste into clean water! The guest bedroom has a super-king sized bed that can be split into two single beds if needed. The open-plan sitting room/study/diner has an additional sofa that pulls out into a comfortable king-sized bed. The utility room has a washing machine and everything you need to deal with a muddy dog! An off-grid kitchen means boiling the kettle on the hob, making toast under the grill and washing up whilst looking at the cows out of the window! The cabin is accessed front and back via steps with a handrail. Everything is then all on one level apart from a 4 cm step onto the shower tray. The path from the spacious parking area is all on one level with motion-sensor lighting to illuminate it at night. The garden is fully fenced, but we never guarantee anything is ‘dog proof’. Our terrier hasn’t escaped from it yet though! You can access the three public footpaths crossing the farm via the glamping field. There is a map in the cabin. After the dairy cows were sold in 2019 the farm was entered into an environmental scheme. Half the farm is now planted with wild bird seed and nectar flowers. The other half is rented to the farmer next door to graze his sheep and cattle. We have seen a huge increase in biodiversity. You are certain to see red kites and buzzards and may spot little owls, hares, foxes and badgers duorng your stay. We support local where we can. Anything ceramic in the cabin is made by Chapelside Ceramics, who also run pottery workshops (rainy day activity?!). Most of the pictures are by local artists and photographers. Friars Farm supplies our delicious condiments. Guest access You have the run of the whole cabin apart from one locked bedroom. There is a gate from the garden into the glamping field. If there are no guests in the shepherd hut you also have the run of the fenced in field. (Be aware that the two patches of long grass are covering the foundations for two more huts). If there are guests and you want to walk through the field to access the public footpaths, please keep your dog(s) on a lead. Other things to note Please let us know if you want the main bedroom set up as two single beds rather than one kingsize and also if you want the sofa bed making up. The cabin is totally off-grid, with solar powered electric and propane powered central heating and hot water. The back up propane generator has so far never been needed! (Should the solar batteries be drained because our guidelines haven’t been followed, there will be a £100 charge for using the back-up generator). Our ethos at Elliotts’ Rectory Farm is to support local whenever we can. You’ll find that the artwork in the cabin is all locally made, as are the soaps and shampoo bars in the bathroom. Seasonal goodies from a local food producer will also be awaiting your arrival! Dogs are super welcome but please wipe their feet when they come into the cabin and don’t allow them in the bedroom. Please do not leave them alone in the cabin. Whilst we welcome Dogs, sadly we can't accept cats. Whilst there is a smart TV in the living room, being in the middle of field means we have no TV areial! If you want to watch TV it will be via streaming services and apps.
