Our property is on the banks of the Madawaska River, just downstream from Palmer Rapids. The site is 10 acres with 1000 feet of river frontage. The site only hosts one group at a time, so you will have the whole place to yourselves - hosts live a few minutes away. Neighboring properties are several hundred feet away, so there is a good sense of privacy. There is occasional noise from passing boats, cars and the farm across the river, but generally it is very peaceful. For boaters and paddlers, we are ideally located on a 9km stretch of navigable flatwater, with excellent white-water paddling both upstream and downstream. The great Paddler Co-op is a short paddle upstream (or 5 minute drive) where you can rent gear and take white-water canoe or kayak lessons on the famous Palmer Rapids! Downstream you will enter the Lower Madawaska Provincial Park where you can paddle through world-class white-water and beautiful scenery for 1 to 3 days! For anglers, the river is full of walleye, pickerel, perch and bass. Bring your own rods and you can fish off the dock or borrow one of our (non-motorized) boats. Bait and fishing licenses are available at the Palmer Rapids General Store just a couple of minutes up the road. Canada at its best! We'd call it a turn-key camping experience, except there aren't any locks! All you need to bring is food, drink and sleeping bags! Hope to host you on the Riverbank soon! ****************************************************************************** Please note: AirBnB listing templates are un-editable and structured more for houses than camping, so please think 'tent' wherever it says 'room', and think 'toilets' wherever it says 'bathrooms'. To be clear, there are bunkbeds in the tents and a single separate Bathroom cabin with 2 private flush toilets, one private hot/cold shower, and one sink with hot/cold potable water. (We just didn't want anyone to arrive looking for bathtubs!). The Kitchen Cabin has power, a full size fridge/freezer, double sink with hot/cold potable water, keurig cofee-maker, kettles, dishes, utensils, staples, etc... If you are still unclear or confused about anything about the property, please just drop us a note and we'd be glad to clarify and update the listing accordingly! Guest access Privacy: The property is 10 acres total, with over 1000 feet of river frontage. We only host one group at a time, so your group will have the whole property to itself. We are just off the highway and easily accessible with 2WD cars. Other things to note Please note that this is a WILDERNESS CAMPING experience intended for groups experienced with campling and wish to enjoy and respect nature. For guests new to camping, this generally means 'to take only pictures, leave only footprints', while minimizing garbage and excessive noise (although singing around the campfire is definitely encouraged!) This also means respecting any fire bans that might be in place (that can range from campfires only, to an outright ban on any burning apart from barbeques) As there is abundant wildlife around (including bears) all food and garbage should be kept in sealed containers / bins in the Kitchen Cabin far from the sleeping area. Please don't keep any food in the tents as squirrels, raccoons (or bigger) may claw their way in while you are gone or sleeping causing expensive damage to the tents. There is potable water and power available at the Bathroom Cabin and Kitchen Cabin, but not at the tents. Please bring flashlights, and see the Property Guide for a detailed description with suggestions of what to bring. Thanks for your understanding and consideration!
