A great view of the woods awaits you from the countryside kitchen window and off the back deck. The 2 bedroom house has a warm cozy feel and can accommodate 6 people. It adjoins Meramec State Park boundary, which has hiking trails, river access, fishing and floating. Nearby is Meramec Caverns, Onondaga Cave, antiquing, restaurants, breweries, wineries and small zoos. Within 1 hours drive is St. Louis, the Katy trail for bicycling. Enjoy a relaxing comfy stay where deer are frequently seen. The space The large deck has a propane grill, lawn chairs and tables. There is a fire ring in the back yard. Bring your own firewood. The kitchen has a fridge, range, microwave, coffee pot, bean grinder, toaster, blender, crock pot, hand mixer and table for 6 people. The living room has comfortable seating for 6. There is central heating and air conditioning plus a wood stove for ambiance. There are 2 bedrooms, an air mattress is available upon request, which can be set up in the small laundry room. Checkers, chess, cards, dominoes, Legos and a book exchange are provided. It's 1.6 miles to the Meramec River at Cane Bottom for swimming or fishing off the gravel bar, it has parking, but no facilities. Please respect the river, it goes from shallow to deep quickly! We have a canoe and a 2 man kayak for your use with advance request. We also have inner tubes, several life vests and a cooler. You must be able to do a self shuttle, which requires 2 vehicles and tie down straps. There are canoe, kayak and raft rentals with shuttle service available from Meramec State Park Concession, Meramec Caverns, 3 Bridges and other outfitters. Summer weekends, especially Saturdays are busy float times. I recommend you reserve a boat. Guest access You have access to the entire house, 3 closets, back deck and large yard. No access to the garage and 2 closets. We use them for maintenance items. The driveway parks 3 cars. The house is in a small neighborhood, mostly small houses on large lots, in a loop of the Meramec River. The road is blacktop from the interstate to the house, about a 4 mile drive thru the hilly back section of the park. My apologies, but river access and parking at Miramiguoa common ground is reserved for residents only. Residents have stickers for their vehicles. Non-stickered cars will be towed. Nearby, Meramec State Park several river access points with parking. The closest is Cane Bottom which has a gravel bar on this side of the river, is 1.5 miles away, has no facilities. The road to Cane Bottom is open May 1 - Sept. 30th, Oct. thru April you'd have to walk a half mile. There is year round river access at the boat ramp and campground. The picnic area has parking and restrooms but no beach front. Please be aware the current is strong in places! Other things to note The house is on well water. It is not chlorinated. If this bothers you, bring bottled drinking water. There is AT&T cell phone coverage, and Verizon, but the signal may be weak. A landline provides local calls and 911 service. Free WiFi. Early check in and late check is allowed upon advance request when possible. Access to the river is in Meramec State Park. There is no river access at the house.
