Cozy and Rustic Cabin
Cozy and Rustic Cabin
Description
Huckleberry Hill is the perfect, peaceful getaway. This quiet and rustic cabin is waiting for you to relax and unwind. Located in the Smokey Mountains, the Chattahoochee National Forest is just steps away. From the large front porch you will find tree filled views, fresh air, and wildlife to watch. This rustic, yet fully appointed home, offers privacy while having close proximity to Lake Rabun and Tallulah Gorge. White water rafting and zip lining in S. C. are only 13 minutes away. The space Huckleberry Hill is also for those who love hiking and the thrill of white water rafting and/or ziplining:-). You will find there are multiple outfitters nearby. With its cozy interior, a fire pit in the yard of a nearly 6 acre property, and different forms of wildlife aound, Huckleberry Hill is the true definition of a cabin in the woods. Fire pit and charcoal grill: Guests need to bring what is needed to use one or both. Of course, any fire starting materials, matches, chopped wood, or charcoal and lighter fluid that we leave behind, you are welcome to use :-). Golfer? The property is close to 2 golf courses (Kingwood Resort (on the way to Clayton) and Rabun County Golf Club). Gamer?: Our current TV is 52 inches with 48 inches of viewing screen due to an installation mishap. The TV is suitable for watching shows but not for gaming if all 52 inches are required. For those (like us); who require intact captions and subtitles centered on screen to watch shows on Netflix, our TV is great:-). Clayton is a 10 minute drive for dining in the "farm to table" capital of Georgia and browsing in charming shops:-) NOTE: Other than the ramp to the front porch, the cabin is not handicap accessible. The interior doors are too narrow for today's standard wheelchairs. Guest access Huckleberry Hill is located off a small dirt/gravel road and is not in a subdivision. You will have full access to the house and yard. To use the fire pit and BBQ grill, guests just need to bring a lighter and materials to get them going. There is a water spicket on the back of the cabin with a hose that will reach the fire pit to put the fire out. All outdoor fires must be contained to keep our forest safe. It is important that we respect our neighbors and wildlife while enjoying the beauty and solitude. We provide complimentary Wi-Fi for our guest's convenience inside the cabin. Being in forested mountain area, we cannot, however, guarantee internet connection availability, speed, and quality at all times. WiFi speed may be affected by weather conditions and/or network congestion. Having noted this, do take out the travel insurance offered through Airbnb for your stay in such areas. If the power goes out during a rainstorm, there won't be water in the cabin to drink, flush toilets, or take baths until it is restored. During this time, WiFi will be even more limited. Note: At Huckleberry Hill, flashlights hang above the electrical panel in the pantry. For the duration of your stay, you will be assigned a unique Smart Lock code shortly before your arrival. So, please send us your ETA:-) Note: For those that simply need total darkness to sleep/sleep in , we recommend bringing sleep masks. Our cabin in the woods is far enough away from our closest neighbors that we have no need to obstruct the lovely outdoor views and can utilize natural light. The exception to this is where there is a need to employ blinds for privacy (bedrooms) or to see the TV screen (loft) :-) Other things to note Please be careful driving in and mind your speed in case of children at play. The gravel road in can be rough, winding, and steep. It is punctuated by more than one pullout to allow on coming traffic to pass. At night, these pullouts may look like driveways. Large vehicles should park at the top of our narrow driveway. It's a short walk to the front porch of the cabin. Our Pet Policy is under House Rules:-) Please understand that we must charge double the cleaning fee for those guests that leave the cabin in such a state that our housekeeper cannot get the cabin ready for the next guest within 3 hours. If we cannot get the cabin cleaned by the time the next guest arrives, and that next guest requests a rebate, the amount rebated with be charged to the guest leaving the cabin in such a state. Fortunately, only one guest has put us in in this predicament. We must charge for lost or irrevocably damaged items. To keep our towels and wash cloths white, we provide sufficient paper towels for kitchen messes (like wiping out/up grease) as well as complimentary make-up remover pads and cotton balls/pads for make-up removal to get our guests through a couple of nights until they can get to the store. As recommended by AirBnb, our complimentary hair conditioner, body soap, and shampoo have little to no fragrance, and are supposedly animal and environmentally friendly. It is not everyone 's favorite. Guests are welcome to bring their own:-) We cannot be held responsible for items left at the cabin or for lost or stolen articles. We can only do our best to notify our guests as soon as valuables are found. If you are okay with all of this. We would love to host you! Most of our guests have been absolutely 5 star wonderful. They followed all our rules and then some. You will know them by their 5 star ratings of us:-) If you have any issues with our cabin while there, please let your host, Jan, know immediately by texting her via this AirBnb application. We want to address all concerns right away:-) Since the doors to the cabin are wood, they can swell with moisture so, you may need to pull them or push them to lock or unlock:-) We are trying to keep our price per night low to attract those who need a well deserved, affordable vacation. To protect our family cabin, we have installed outdoor security cameras near the front and back porches. We currently close due to the wintry weather in December and open back up the first week of May. In the interim, we will continue to be very good at responding to requests and delighted to talk with anyone interested:-)
