"Torretta Filomena" is a unique villa near Cortona with a breathtaking panoramic view over the Val di Chiana, facing Montepulciano and Monte Amiata. This beautiful historic building was originally built in the 14th century as a watchtower and was later expanded for residential purposes. It was part of the grand estate of the Tommasis, one of the most important noble families in Tuscany. The space The estate is harmoniously nestled in the hills of Cortona, surrounded by ancient olive trees, cypress trees, and a meticulously and lovingly curated flower garden with many colorful butterflies. Here, you live in harmony with nature in absolute peace and privacy. The terraced property features a small pond with water lilies, bordered by a profusion of blooming plants. The villa is spread over three levels and offers 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all stylishly furnished in Tuscan decor and comfortably accommodating up to 8 guests over approximately 250 square meters. The three upper bedrooms are equipped with built-in air conditioning units that can be individually regulated via remote control. Mobile fans are also available. On the ground floor, there is a large living room with a massive original Tuscan fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances, a dining area with another small fireplace and a view of the garden, a spacious bedroom with a king-size double bed, a library and small desk, as well as a bathroom with a shower and bidet. On the first floor, there is a bedroom with an impressive ceiling height of up to 4 meters, featuring a queen-size double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub. Adjacent to it is a study with a balcony leading to an external staircase. From both rooms, you have a unique panoramic view of Cortona, Montepulciano, and Monte Amiata. Also on this floor is a cozy bedroom with two single beds and a small desk, with an adjoining bathroom with a shower. On the second floor is the so-called tower room: a very special bedroom with two single beds and a separate WC, from which one can enjoy a fascinating view. Please refer to the attached floor plans. Around the estate, there are various terraces where you can enjoy meals or simply a coffee or aperitif. There is ample garden furniture, so you can make yourself comfortable wherever you choose. At the level of the main house, elegantly hidden behind a hedge, is the magnificent and unusually large swimming pool. It measures 5.5 m × 12 m and has a depth of up to 2.20 m. From here, too, you have a wonderful panoramic view and can watch the sun set behind Cortona while swimming. Surrounding the pool is a well-maintained lawn area. Here, as well as on the terrace above it, you can relax on the sun loungers and bask in the Tuscan sun. A little lower down, there is a separate laundry house with a washing machine, ironing board, and iron. Guest access Guests have access to all areas except the boiler room and a storage room. Other things to note To be paid on the spot: In addition to the rental fee, guests must pay the local "tassa di soggiorno" (city tax), which is €2 per person per night for the first 4 nights. Children under 12 years old are exempt from this charge. We kindly ask guests to pay the correct amount in cash upon arrival. In this region, the city tax is not collected by Airbnb. However, with outdoor temperatures below 10°C, it cannot be guaranteed that the air temperature in all rooms will reach 21°C. There is no radiator in the kitchen. -Access to the property is via a roughly 950-meter long unpaved road from the main street, with paved curves going uphill.
