The Stables is a stunning conversion of a Georgian Stables. On a family run farm you can now enjoy modern living in an historic building high on the North Kent Downs. The lovely views are over private land in an area of outstanding natural beauty with use of a shared swimming pool during the summer months. Close to the market town of Faversham and the historic city of Canterbury, as well as Leeds Castle and trendy Whistable, it's an idyllic holiday spot or stopover on route to the continent. The space We were proud to be recently featured in the Christmas edition of interiors magazine 'Country Homes and Interiors'. The Stables is situated in a conservation area, set amongst rolling hills and wooded valleys. The open plan kitchen has floor to ceiling crittal doors accessing an orchard on one side and a grassed private garden on the other, bringing the outside in. It is the perfect place to visit for walkers, runners, cyclists and for those who want to explore this pretty part of Kent. We are teeming with wildlife, including Barn Owls, Little Owls and Kestrels plus our herd of not so wild Alpacas in the adjoining field. In Springtime the local woods are full of bluebells, wild garlic and rare orchids. Snuggle up on the sofas in the elegant sitting room in front of the woodburning stove with a hot chocolate. There are 3 double bedrooms with shared bathroom and one superking with en suite. Separate toilet, laundry room, sitting room with fireplace and smart tv and open plan kitchen, seating area with views. Private garden and access to private farmland. Swimming pool June - September Guest access The Stables will be yours exclusively throughout your stay. The Stables is within easy reach of London. Ashford International train station is a 30 minute taxi ride away (37 minutes to St Pancras) and Faversham station (just over an hour to St Pancras or Victoria) is about a 25 minute drive. By car, the M2 and M20 are convenient. The channel tunnel and the port of Dover are approx 35 minutes away. There is private parking for up to 3 cars (4 at a squeeze), and there is an external domestic plug should you wish to charge an electric car. Bicycles may be housed in a farm building by prior arrangement. The nearest town is Faversham, with it's independent shops, creekside restaurants, renowned Hop festival and award winning farm shop and deli Macknade's. The C19th building has been converted sympathetically and with style and retains many original features. The front door opens into a stone floored hallway with chandelier. To the left are a toilet and utility room with washing machine and dryer, iron and board, and a vacuum cleaner. The space then opens up through double French doors into an elegant sitting room with smart TV and woodburning stove. On into the open plan kitchen with Nespresso machine, electric stove with induction hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster and electric kettle. Kitchen cupboards are stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt and pepper, vinegar and assorted spices. Back through the entrance hall are the bedrooms. The master bedroom contains a super king sized bed, hanging wardrobe and two chests of drawers, a dedicated work area with printer, and an en suite with traditional roll top bath and shower. All other bedrooms have kingsized beds and share a bathroom with a traditional roll top bath and shower. The final room at the end of this corridor is a games room with ping pong table and table football. There is a croquet set for the garden. There is wifi throughout the building. The building is strictly No Smoking. Thank you for respecting this. Please enjoy The Stables and all it has to offer and we kindly ask you to leave it as you found it. There will be additional charge for any damages. Other things to note I will leave you all the details about the property including local recommendations and books of local walks on the kitchen table. Luxury linen and towels are provided. A basket of logs will be included for your stay for use in the woodburner. Pets are welcome There are many pretty villages nearby to explore including Pluckley, reputedly the most haunted village in England, Chilham, whose historic square has appeared in many TV shows, Wye, which has walking with views form the Devil's Kneading Trough reach all the way to East Sussex, and fashionable Whitstable, with its seaside ambience and famous oysters. There are numerous vineyards to visit including Chartham Vineyard, Chapel Down and Tattinger. There are also several Michelin starred restaurants in the area: The Sportsman in Seasalter, The Fordwich Arms in Fordwich, The Pig in Bridge and the Hide and Fox in Saltwood (please book well in advance to avoid disappointment). We also have plenty of castles! Leeds, dubbed "the most beautiful castle in the country" (also the venue for a Go Ape adventure), Dover with its secret war time tunnels, Deal, Walmer and the picture perfect ruins of Bodiam (which are adjacent to the fabulous gardens of Great Dixter).
