The Hogg Norfolk Retreat

October 22 The space Our home is a large, detached property and provides the perfect escape for a family or group of friends wanting a spacious, well-equipped and stylish retreat. It is located not far from the coast and its fabulous beaches and only a very short drive to the stately home of Houghton Hall with its stunning gardens, Sandringham and many top golf courses. The Hogg is perfectly positioned in spacious grounds close to the centre of the sought-after village of East Rudham. The house is full of character and each of the rooms has been carefully furnished with attention to detail and many of our personal paintings and items. On the ground floor guests enjoy a large kitchen/dining room that is ideal for entertaining and has sliding doors onto the garden. In the winter months the AGA keeps the room super cosy and also provides ample cooking capacity. In the summer months when the AGA is turned off there is a gas hob and electric oven for cooking on instead. There is a walk in pantry whilst a two door American fridge freezer plus an under counter fridge provide plenty of space for chilling both food and wine. The boot/utility room has a large sink, a washing machine, separate dryer and a clothes drying rack, as well as room for coats, wet and muddy boots and dogs! The snug leads off the kitchen and a large L-shaped sofa is the perfect place to sink in and watch TV, or curl up with a good book. This is also an ideal playroom if you have children. The living room offers four sofas, a wood burning stove for the colder evenings and a large TV. A small study is ideal if you need a quiet place to work. On the first floor the dual aspect master bedroom has a dressing area and en-suite shower room. There are three further double bedrooms, one twin, a family bathroom and an additional shower room. All of the double beds are King size and the twin beds are full size 3 foot divan beds. We have two travel cots (no bedding is provided for these) and two high chairs available for the use of our youngest guests, as well as a selection of games and books. Please note, we are NOT able to fit a stairgate at either the bottom or the top of our stairs and so parents with young children should be aware of this. The large garden is enclosed and dog friendly so bring your dog with you. We do ask that dogs stay downstairs only and with all four paws firmly on the ground and not on the furniture! This is the perfect place to while away a sunny afternoon with a patio, table tennis, a football goal and a pétanque court. There is also a courtyard patio with a barbecue and dining area, an outdoor WC, an electric car charging point and off street parking for several cars. This property really is a home-from-home, less than a five minute walk from the village pub, The Crown, which serves fabulous food and even an egg shop (temporarily closed but will reopen)! The Hogg is also available to book with the addition of The Apple Store annexe, to make a sleeps 12 option. Guest access The entire house is available for you, with the exception of of four private cupboards, the cellar and our shed. The Apple Store Annex is only available when booked as an extra in addition to the Hogg - it is NOT part of the Hogg booking. If you require 12 people to stay or need a downstairs bedroom we recommend that you book the Apple Store in addition to the Hogg. Other things to note We provide starter packs of essential items (such as toilet roll) but the property is self catering and therefore additional supplies will need to be purchased. In the winter months there will be logs for an initial fire but additional wood will need to be purchased as and when you want it. BBQ charcoal is not provided although it does sometimes work out that some has been left! The Hogg is in a small village but a car is strongly recommended in order to access shops, beaches, restaurants, etc. We are in rural Norfolk and buses are limited.
