Lapas Nest is close to public transport and nightlife. You’ll love it because of the views, wildlife sightings, the kitchen, the breeze, hot shower and the coziness. It's a good place for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers utilizing the blazing fiber optic 25 Mbps bandwidth WiFi. Lapas Nest is located conveniently just off the paved Dominical/San Isidro road in the small village of Platanillo. The outlook is on the edge of the jungle where each day is greeted with a celebration of bird songs. Highest monkey count so far, is sighting 17 members of the local White Faced Monkey troupe that have been known to parade past the balcony viewpoint on their seasonal foraging journeys. Howler monkeys are commonly heard. Just 9 miles down the road, the local beach town of Dominical is famous for it's surfing, nightlife and is a launch site for a host of adventures. Boat rides to the Corcovado Park entrances, on the Osa Peninsula, with guided tours, or racing dolphins out to Caño Island for snorkeling or scuba diving in the marine reserve. Delectable treats while in Dominical include: Espresso, Ice Cream, Massage, Fish Tacos and a Real Natural Food Store with local and US products. Whether your adventures take you exploring the depths of Corcovado or simply on a horseback ride to the famous Nauyaca Water Falls less than 2 miles down the road, returning home to Lapas Nest offers evening breezes cooled by the jungle consistently offering a 10 degree cooler sleeping arrangement than the more humid 90s of the sea-level coastline. Arriving at the Lapa’s Nest Nature Outlook is an easy experience. From the paved road through Platanillo sighting the Lapa’s Nest sign across the street and East of the church leads you right down the paved driveway to the edge of the jungle. You’ll have the code to get the key by the door, so your schedule rules. Lapa’s Nest will be specially prepared for you and you alone. The entire space is yours to make yourself comfortable. Secluded yet easy walking distance to all of the amenities of Platanillo including bus stops. I will remain available to be contacted throughout your stay. Just let me know if you need anything. There is a team of people I've contracted with, to see to every detail. Two maids, a gardener, and a maintenance contractor with crew. Lapas Nest is my home when I am in the country, so if you are here, I'm not. I stay in contact though and beyond my contractors I have friends in the area if need be. I'm working to earn those 5 stars and have provided a book where you can comment or make suggestions. Lapas Nest brings me much joy and I am happy to share the experience. Lapas Nest is not located in a tourist zone. Platanillo is a small town happily doing what it does best. Pura Vida. Pure life, in a truly Costa Rican tranquilo style. Yes they "roll up the streets" at 10pm, a good idea for a town that wakes in the cool of dawn to get things done before the heat of the day. Crack of dawn will have a little foot traffic announced by the local canine watch. 5:30am the church bells play a peaceful melody. A good time for a hot shower and to put the coffee on. An adventure is in the making. Enjoy the best seat in the house, out on the deck, as the jungle show begins, or walk to the bus stop for an outing. The restaurante opens at 8:00am for breakfast or you can bring some local ingredients home from the store to your own cocina. Enjoy your day! Platanillo is on the Dominical/San Isidro dust free paved road. The local bus stop is 100 meters West of the Lapas Nest driveway. La Parada, is also the location of the Grocery Store/Liquor Store/Restaurant/Bar. The very economical bus system goes early each day both 9 miles down to the beach at Dominical, and 5 miles inland up to Tinamaste where there is a organic market with crafts Tuesday mornings, or 10 more miles on to the "big city" of San Isidro, returning in the afternoon. The local bus schedule is listed in the house manual. I have never bothered to rent a car in Costa Rica and don't have one while in the country. Taxis can get you to the beach or back for $18 if you miss the bus. Cars are of course available, with insurance, for about $100 a day. A luxury that can be worth it, and there is room to park at the outlook, but a vehicle is not required for this location. Not only a vehicle but 4 wheel drive is a necessity for many house rentals in Costa Rica. You can easily walk from Lapa’s Nest to 2 grocery markets, 2 restaurants (1 with a bar) and 1 bakery. Small town easy living. Pura Vida
