Relax in a cozy cottage on 100 acres of pasture and forest with private trails, grazing horses, and seasonal haskap berries. The calming presence of horses can help reduce stress, regulate emotions, and create a sense of grounding and connection. A peaceful nature retreat perfect for rest, reflection, and reconnecting with the outdoors. The space The Orchard Cottage is situated to the north side of the Stable, with a beautiful wrap-around porch that is covered in the rear. You will see the cottage when you enter the property through the gates. There is parking to the left of the cottage. The Stable shares some fencing with the Orchard Cottage, giving you a unique opportunity to interact with the horses throughout your stay. The backside of the Orchard Cottage faces east. Sit back and enjoy your morning coffee as you watch the sunrise over the forested mountainous region. The autumn colours of this view are stunning! Inside the Orchard Cottage you will find a ground floor bedroom with window, a loft on the mezzanine floor with a window, a three-piece bathroom with hot water shower, and a kitchen/common area. The bedroom on the ground floor has a king-sized bed, two bedside tables with lamps, a full length mirror, a platform for luggage, and a wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe is additional bedding, novels for borrowing, board games, and a table cloth for outdoor dining. The loft on the mezzanine floor has a queen-sized bed, and a single bed, a bedside tables with lamp. Adults can sleep up here but are unlikely to be able to stand at full height in this room. Please take care when ascending and descending the stairs. There is a sofa bed in the common area. This is marketed as a double, but could comfortably sleep one adult, or two children. All beds are topped with a down-duvet to regulate the temperature and provide a comfortable sleep. The Kitchen will provide all the basic necessities needed for your stay. It includes; a small fridge with a smaller freezer, toaster, electric kettle, 4-cup coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, countertop induction burner, cutlery, crockery, mugs, glasses, wine glasses, basic pots and pans, basic cleaning supplies, tea towels, and dish clothes. There is a small sized propane BBQ dedicated for guest use. Champagne flutes, and lobster pot/utensils are available upon request. In the common area there is a dining table and four cushioned chairs, shoe rack and mounted hook for coats. Fresh towels, hand towels, face clothes, bath mat and linens are provided for each stay. Please do not use towels at the beach. Basic toiletries will be provided for your stay including; Dove shampoo & conditioner, body wash/soap, and moisturizer. There is a hair dryer for use in the vanity in the washroom. The hot water heater for the cottage is small and requires a few minutes to heat the water between showers. There is no smoking or vaping in the cottage or around the animals. An ashtray is provided for your outdoor smoking convenience. It is located under the sink in the kitchen. If you see your hosts out and about, please feel free to approach them and ask them questions about the farm or local area gems. If you don't see your hosts, they will be available by text message (preferred) during your stay. There are 85 acres of forest, and 15 acres of orchard/pasture that you are able to access at your leisure. There are marked groomed trails in the forest (2km & 3km) that you can follow. Adventurous routes are also accessible on foot or horseback (4.5km). It is recommended that you wear highly visible clothing (orange) during hunting seasons while in the forest (September thru to March). The Coop-a-Cabana is where our chickens are housed. Here you will meet Mr. Belvedere, Dr. Pecker, Creaker, Marshmallow and their feathered friends. You can enter the coop and hang out with the chickens during the day. The chickens are locked up in their coop at dusk to keep them safe from predators. The Horse Pasture and Stable are accessible only under supervision of your hosts. Please do not attempt to enter these areas. Horses are large prey animals that can be dangerous even when they don't mean to hurt you. Zenia, Candy and Silver will come to the fence for love and attention. You’re welcome to pet the horses. Remember, fingers look like carrots! Please do not feed the animals. The Apiary is located quite a distance from the Orchard Cottage, so no need to worry about interacting with the bees. You may encounter the bees throughout the spring and summer as they pollinate the orchards and surrounding fruit trees. Honey Bees are not aggressive. If you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. Although the Barn and Main House are off limits to guests, you may access the zipline, treehouse, swings, fire ring, seating and yard around those buildings. Other things to note At the farm we have seen (or seen evidence of) the following animals; porcupines, skunks, raccoons, small bears, deer, chipmunks and coyotes. If you leave them alone, they will happily leave you alone. It is important that you do not leave any food or trash bags outside the cottage. Bins for trash disposal and organic compost are located at the main entrance. The road leading to the farm is a public road, and when the snow stops falling the municipal snow plough will come round and clear the snow.
