Unlike the larger one-bedroom and two-bedroom condo style residences at Hyatt Sunset Harbor, this studio residence does not have a fully equipped kitchen; dining room; living room; waterfront balcony; or water view. Hyatt Sunset Harbor Interior Design “Makeover” - The Hyatt Sunset Harbor Board of Directors announced in their July 2023 Newsletter that within the next several months, they are planning an interior design “makeover.” In the works are new flooring, new living room furniture, new drapery and rugs, etc. When done, all villas will have a new design reflecting the colors of Key West. This work will be completed throughout the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. Contractors will be on site during working hours during this time. There will be construction activities and construction noise. Hyatt Sunset Harbor Exterior Building Maintenance - Following the collapse of the 12-story beachfront condominium in Surfside, FL in June 2021, the state of Florida basically legislated that the owners of all buildings in Florida that are 3 stories or more in height are required to have an engineering company conduct a structural inspection and prepare an inspection report with recommendations. The inspection report for the Hyatt Sunset Harbor was completed in June 2023. In line with the recommendations of the inspection report, the Hyatt Sunset Harbor’s Board of Directors announced in July 2023 that exterior building maintenance will take place at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor throughout the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. The roof may be refurbished or replaced in 2024. Exterior building maintenance had already commenced prior to issuance of the inspection report. For now, they are shoring up exterior balcony beams and pillars on building 5; replacing and refurbishing balcony railings on building 5; upgrading components on both elevators; along with other building upgrades. They will then commence with repair and restoration of the roof. Contractors will be on site during working hours during this time. There will be construction activities and construction noise. I spoke to the Hyatt Sunset Harbor front desk manager on July 30. She told me that the worst of the work for 2023, i.e., the beams, pillars, and railings on Building 5, is almost complete and that there has been no impact on reservations to date, other than the visible construction activities and noise. I have had guests stay at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor during these construction activities and thus far have had no negative comments. Guest access The entire studio residence is accessible to guests, including the casual living area, kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom along with all common areas at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor, including the lobby, courtyard, swimming pool, hot tub, and laundry facilities. Walk to Sunset Pier, Mallory Square, Key West's Historic Seaport, and Duval Street. If you are flying into Key West, you won't need a car. There is no on-site parking or street parking at Hyatt Sunset Harbor. If desired, discounted garage parking is available to Hyatt's guests for a fee of about $40. Upon request, Hyatt will issue a Key Card to you at Check-In to enter the garage. The garage is located directly across Sunset Lane from Hyatt's Lobby. The garage has 4 parking levels and does not have an elevator. The garage has handicap parking on the 1st floor. You may want to store your bags in the lobby while you are parking your car. Garage parking is limited to one car per reservation. Call the Hyatt Sunset Harbor’s front desk to secure your garage parking any time after you have received your Guest Certificate. Casa Grande del Sol, LLC is owned, managed, and operated by me, L Keith Casagrande. o Once your Hyatt reservation is confirmed, I will have Hyatt issue a Guest Certificate in your name. Your Hyatt Confirmation Number will be on your Guest Certificate. The Guest Certificate is like the confirmation you receive when you make a hotel reservation. o To obtain the Guest Certificate from Hyatt I will need your mailing address, phone number, and email address. The Guest Certificate holder must be at least 25 years of age to check in. o I will email and text a copy of the completed Guest Certificate to you. The Guest Certificate will have the Hyatt Sunset Harbor’s address and phone number on it. I suggest that you save the text on your phone for convenient access later. o If you wish to confirm your reservation with Hyatt, to request early check-in, or to secure garage parking, please call the Hyatt Sunset Harbor’s front desk any time after receiving your Guest Certificate. o Lobby check-in time is 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. You will check into the Hyatt Sunset Harbor’s front desk just as you would check into any hotel. Hyatt will assign your room to you at check-in depending on availability. o If you requested early check-in and your room is not available when you arrive, you will be able to register at the front desk and drop your bags off. Pool towels will be available either in your room or at the pool. Generally, small pool toys are allowed; large pool toys, e.g., floaties, rafts, etc., are not allowed. o Complimentary clothes washers and dryers are located on all 3 floors near rooms 134 and 124 and 114. Complimentary laundry detergent is available at the front desk. o There are many local attractions and activities available in Key West as shown in the Amenities and Photos sections of this listing. Light housekeeping service (i.e., towels, toiletries, and coffee replacement, trash removal, etc.) will be available upon request to Hyatt’s front desk. Each review is for 1 of the 3 HRCs and may mention features that are applicable to only that HRC and not to the other two.
