The Tommy House

Welcome to The Tommy House-a fusion of Scandinavian chic and beautiful bespoke craftsmanship. The ultimate self catering luxury getaway for two adults, (no infants sorry). Set privately amongst breathtaking views of our multi- environmentally award winning farm. Soak in the outdoor bath under the stars and make the most of this ultimate getaway- an easy drive to both the Great Walks and the ski fields. We can also offer farm tours, working dog displays, hiking, biking and fishing access. The space Our 870 ha sheep and beef farm is at the very end of the road and here you will find our beautiful Tommy House -a guest house has been personally designed and built by us. The high ceilings and large windows and doors mean light and sun floods the space and the breath taking uninterrupted views can come flooding in. Paying homage to our values around sustainability and environmental friendliness, we have tried to make our small home as 'green' as possible. Beautiful hardwood beams from our old access bridge have been incorporated into both the interior and exterior of the design. Open plan living and the private bedroom lead to the outdoors from double glazed sliding doors. A queen size bed takes in the stunning vistas with steps leading to a magic outdoor bath nestled privately and perfectly below. Wrap around decking allows easy access to the serene environment. The clever bathroom with heater and shower also showcases beautiful handcrafted features. Carefully thought out shelving and bookcases make storage and relaxing with a book easy. A woodfire at night makes The Tommy House the perfect romantic escape or cosy retreat from which to base your fishing, hiking or ski trips. Guest access Plenty of private parking with flat easy access to The Tommy House. Other things to note There may be some extra Tommy activities such as sheep dog training lessons or deer stalking (photography), mountain bikes (if you have your own bikes) or hikes that you might like to prebook with us or arrange to do whilst you're here. Sheepdog training demonstration- $50pp This showcases the NZ Huntaway and the NZ Heading dog working sheep plus training tips for any dog lover. Usually takes around 1/2 hour plus. Why not book a "Tommy Tour?" - an afternoon four wheel drive trip to our backcountry hut for afternoon tea. We will showcase our ecological restoration work and answer any questions you may have about our farming operation. Wonderful views from the tops -spectacular scenery all around. This trip must be booked in advance although it can be paid for on the day, as it is weather and workload dependent. We offer sheepdog training and working dog displays ($50 NZpp). A must for dog lovers. Book in advance. An evening hunting 'stalk' with Jeff (again weather dependent). Good outdoor clothing and footwear is a must for this activity. $100 NZpp book in advance, pay on the day
