Description
Enjoy staying in a piece of history within this old one room schoolhouse converted to a two bedroom home. Sit out on the swing or by the firepit as you enjoy peaceful sounds of the country and the creek adjacent to the property. Located right on the Bourbon Trail with only a 5 min drive to Maker’s Mark, 17 min to Limestone, and 20 min to Log Still Distillery. Venture in to the city of Springfield to learn about Abe Lincoln and his parents, married in the courthouse, still being used to this day! The space Welcome to the Bourbon Trail Schoolhouse! We are honored to share this little piece of history with our guests. We have been told this property used to be a one room schoolhouse, dating back over a century. It has since been turned into a two bedroom charming home. We encourage you to relax in the tranquil country setting of Central Kentucky while you enjoy listening to the flowing creek right after a good, hard rain. Sit outside on the porch or by the fire-pit while cooking s’mores and telling stories. Or curl up on the couch to read one of the books provided! Of course, we encourage our guests to also explore the surrounding communities! When it comes to proximity of local distilleries, this home can’t be beat. Five minutes from Maker’s Mark, 20 minutes from Log Still, and 17 minutes from Limestone, this place is it if you are coming to visit the Bourbon Trail (hence the name 😄). To get onto the property you will cross a small concrete bridge that takes you to the private gravel driveway. There are three steps up to the front door. While this house is a one story home (no upstairs or basement), there is a step down into the first bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room. In the living room, there is a new couch, chair, coffee table, and sitting/storage cubes. In those cubes you can find extra blankets and children’s toys. Under the new TV is the console table where you can find books and games. The Wi-Fi box can also be found in the console and is powered by HughesNet. From the living room, you can open the door to step out onto the covered porch, where you can use the porch swing or walk out to enjoy the property, including the fire-pit. There are six adirondack chairs around the fire-pit, as well as metal sticks for cooking s’mores or hot dogs. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans, cookie sheet, mixing bowls, storage containers, small crockpot, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, glassware, wine glasses, and silverware. There is a full stovetop oven with a full size refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven. The single serve coffee maker accepts K-cups- we do provide one per guest per morning! Or you may bring your own if you wish. Please note: there is not a dishwasher, so if you’d rather not wash your dishes after use, please bring paper plates, cups, etc. Under the sink, there is a first aid kit, cleaning supplies, fire extinguisher, and fire blanket. In the dining room there is a table for 4 (backless stools) and a high top table for two that does provide back support on the chairs. This would be a perfect table to enjoy your morning coffee while catching up on the news or used as a workspace with your personal laptop. Both bedrooms are equipped with a queen size bed, closet w/ hangers, laundry basket, luggage rack, and Roku TV. All bed materials including the mattresses, pillows, protective waterproof covers, sheets, quilts, and blankets were all purchased brand new! In addition, the carpet in both rooms is brand new! The bathroom has a full size tub/shower, sink, and toilet. Tissues, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel is provided. Towels, wash cloths, and hand towels are also provided. All linens (including bed sheets and towels) have been washed in Tide Free and Clear for Sensitive Skin laundry detergent. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer for your use. The property overall is a quiet setting with an occasional sound of a car passing on the nearby road. Most of the cars you will see are either the people that work at Maker’s Mark or visitors on their way to the distillery. There are also a large population of deer around the property, and you might even get lucky and spot one of the three bucks that like to wander into the yard! We’ve also recently discovered kittens that live on the adjacent farm and venture over for a visit at times. Guest access You will have full access to the home, yard, and driveway. We do ask that you do not access the metal barn that is on the corner of the property. Other things to note In case of nighttime arrival and because the house sits off of the road, we will always have the exterior house porch light on so that you can see the driveway as you pull in. The metal barn has an automatic motion censor light as well. In addition, we have placed tube lighting to line the concrete bridge that you will cross to get onto the property. Please be aware of this type of entrance and be sure to check out the pictures included in this listing.
