Charming riverside castle

Menet is a castle built in the 12th century on the right bank of the Tardoire, close to the friendly and lively village of Montbron. This family home is classified as a Historic Monument, and has been the subject of a major renovation project. The location of the castle is exceptional, surrounded by nature, overlooking the Tardoire River and an old mill. A very large south-facing terrace allows you to enjoy this view. The space The living room and dining room, which open onto this listed terrace and its old stone basin, are therefore bathed in sunlight. The bedrooms on the first floor also all face south. 4 of them have been completely renovated, including a master bedroom with an adjoining children's bedroom. The kitchen, the large living room, the beautiful dining room, the library/living room (TV room), the office and the large entrance hall were all also renovated in 2022 with quality materials. The castle extends over more than 800 m² of living space. There is also a second part of the castle, which is less renovated. It contains 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as a dormitory with 5 beds for children and a typical Charentais kitchen with a fireplace. The whole place has incredible charm and is an ideal vacation spot for family reunions or a week with friends. Indeed the castle formed of a U, has a very large indoor garden (ideal for children), a chicken coop, stables with 1 horse and 2 ponies. It also offers private direct access to a river (La Tardoire) for free swimming. Kayaking is possible on this river (rental and/or use of one of ours). We also have bicycles available for rent. From the castle, you have access to superb walks, including the famous 3 Castles walk, which will allow you to discover, on foot, on horseback or by kayak, the Château de Chabrot, the Château de Ferrière and the Château de Lavaud. Le Moulin de la Tardoire, located 3 minutes away by car, is one of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in the region. It is located in a breathtaking green setting. Guest access Montbron and its various shops including Intermarché are 5 minutes away by car. Angoulême Station is 30 minutes away for quick access by train. Other things to note The house is large (850 m2) high ceiling, the parquet floors are made of chestnut and date most of them from the 18th century, we have more than 15 beds , of different sizes and we leave available during your stay, a large library of a thousand books, a toy library of about fifty games, a pool table and a children's playroom (very many toys). Thus, 1) to receive you in the best possible way, the refurbishment and cleaning of the house requires between 20 and 30 hours of work. If your stay is followed by another stay, we ask you to make a substantial effort to return the house to the state in which you found it 2) If you come with children, it is IMPERATIVE that they respect everything that is made available to them and do not venture into the clearly identified strictly prohibited areas
