The Ridge Top Log Cabin at Aim High is the perfect accommodation for all of your getaway needs. Situated amongst trees in the heart of the Manistee National Forest, your stay at Aim High will give you that true Up North feel. Our cabin is located less than 1/4 mile from ORV, ATV, biking and seasonal Snowmobile Trails. Access is from the drive way. Fishermen and paddlers will find the renowned Pere Marquette River less than 3 miles away. Let us host your true “Up North” getaway! The space We invite you to come and enjoy all Lake County has to offer. Our cozy log cabin is located in the Ward Hills region of the Manistee National Forest. Out the back door, you will find hiking trails leading you into the surrounding wooded hills. This immediate area is excellent for hiking, snow shoeing and seasonal hunting. Naturalists will enjoy our resident wildlife such as grouse, deer, owl and wood peckers. After dark, from time to time, the baying of the coyotes can be heard in the distance. Mountain bikers will find the North Country Trail just 3 miles from the cabin. Also, the Little 'O' ORV/ATV Trail can be reached by following our 2 track to the property line. Fishermen may travel 3 miles from the cabin to the Pere Marquette River Access at Rainbow Rapids or Upper Branch Bridge. Snowmobilers are also welcome, trail 35 is one mile to the east. Inside the cabin, one bedroom is outfit with an Amish made log queen size bed while the other bedroom is outfit with Amish made log bunk beds. The bunk bed has a full size mattress on the bottom and a twin size mattress on the top, sleeping 3 persons. In the living room, a full sized futon comfortable sleeps an additional 2 persons, accommodating 6 persons maximum. All bedding and towels are provided. The kitchen is equipped with a standard size refrigerator/freezer, four burner electric stove top, a medium sized toaster oven, microwave, crockpot, coffee pot, pots, pans, cooking utensils, dinnerware, silverware, glassware and table linens. The dining table seats 4 comfortably. Behind the cabin, a charcoal grill and smoker is provided. Alternatively, an outdoor glass patio table seats 4, or you may enjoy taking advantage of vintage TV trays (set of 4) and skip the formalities. We now offer wifi and tv. That being said, we encourage our guests to spend time by the fire, as in front of the cabin there is a fire ring for roasting goodies and telling stories. Guest access Guests will have access to over 300 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and atv / orv trails from the driveway. We invite you to explore the Aim High’s 18 acres offering a beautiful and varying hiking trail as well as the Manistee National Forest directly out back of the property. Other things to note IMPORTANT - For guests traveling with dogs : Our pet policy is for dogs only. No other animals permitted. We raise and train Airedale terriers and German shorthair pointers on our property. Our dogs are friendly and able to move around freely when they are outside. All guest dogs need to be leashes at all times and also need to be friendly. Dogs must be at least 1 year old. Dogs are required to be crate trained and to be accompanied by a crate and utilizing it. That means that if you leave the cabin without your dog, the dog must be left in a crate. Failure to do this will result in a forfeited reservation. If your dog is not friendly, do not bring it with you. Up to date proof of vaccination is required prior to arrival. The pet will not be welcome to stay without this information. In the event of dogs getting on furniture, having an accident or failure to clean up after your dog outside, an additional cleaning fee will be charged at check out. If you feel your dog is unable to meet these requirements, you are welcome to cancel this reservation for no charge within 24 hours of making the reservation. FIREPLACE : the fire place is operation from September 15th through May 15th. From May 16th - September 14th the fireplace is off and not in use. Tampering with the fireplace will result in a minimum charge of $250.
