The Harbour Master's Office in Berthier-sur-Mer
Description
Built in 1860 on the Route des Navigateurs along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, where salt water meets fresh water, La Capitainerie invites you to live to the rhythm of the tides or explore the estuary and its surroundings in the beautiful region of Bellechasse. Ideal for a romantic weekend, couples of friends, teleworking or a writing retreat. La Capitainerie is 35 minutes from the bridges of Quebec and 12 minutes from Montmagny for all amenities. The space La Capitainerie is an ancestral house dating from the 19th century, on more recent foundations. It presents all kinds of small singularities that give it all its charm! We take pleasure in decorating it with old or unusual objects, found according to our escapades, to make it a real small museum! Room by room, the ground floor and the floor, which was once the attic, are entirely made of wood. The floors crack, as if they were talking to us! On the ground floor, the space is large and open, the ceilings are low and the largest will have to bend over to pass the door frames. It is a house with the dimensions of those of the 19th century in Quebec! On the ground floor: - The living room and kitchen area are open-air and decorated with pretty checkered windows. A vintage table will welcome guests for meals. - The kitchen is small, charming and well equipped! - The living room is equipped with a sofa, a comfortable rocking chair, a gas fireplace and a quality sound system connected to the TV. A collection of CD/DVDs, a few books on the history of the region and numerous brochures presenting the activities nearby are at your disposal. - There is also a room on the ground floor with a view of the river. It has a queen size bed. The room being small, it will be more comfortable for one person... or two, loving promiscuity. - The bathroom is modest, but all the elements are there: toilet, vanity, pharmacy and shower. - Access to the terrace. Upstairs: - The room is large and open air. - There are two beds: a King (double single) and a Queen size. Bamboo blinds can be lowered to divide the room, and give more privacy. - Office area and library with games, art and history books. - A well of light allows you to observe the view and the sky. - This room can be air conditioned - This room can be air conditioned as needed in the summer. The outside: - Sloping land. - Three levels: terrace, courtyard (wood burning fireplace) and garden. - The terrace allows you to enjoy the view of the river, Ile d'Orléans, Mont St-Anne and observe many species of birds. A good pair of binoculars is at your disposal. It is equipped with a BBQ, a table, chairs and a beautiful red umbrella! - Access to the courtyard by a large staircase. - Access to the river via the garden and the neighbours' land. Guest access The entire house is accessible to travelers except the basement, the closet on the 2nd floor, and the shed. For security reasons, it is not planned or recommended that our guests access the basement, except in case of emergency. The stairs down are very steep. There are only home maintenance tools and accessories. Access is through a hatch on the floor in the kitchen, making the place dangerous when opened.
