Description

Inside space is a full size couch that welcomes you along with the wood burning stove. See the flames through the glass and enjoy spectacular views of the Indian Peaks. There’s a staircase leading to the loft where you will rest on a queen size mattress. You’ll have complete privacy while enjoying the glamping experience of being in an insulated space with modern amenities such as WiFi, microwave and fridge. Blue Bear is off-grid, electricity is produced by solar. Full-size grill on the outside. The space The space is a 10 by 12 feet cabin with the addition of the loft. Walls and floor is insulated with 2-inch thick insulation boards. There’s a picnic table and full-size grill with side burner for your cooking options outside. The outhouse situated behind the Blue Bear has only a toilet in it. The outside shower (only cold water) can be used in non-freezing temperatures, usually from June to October, because it’s fed by a huge water tank that can freeze. Please bring as much drinking water as you will need for your stay, since the water tank that feeds the shower is only non-potable water. There’s a water spigot with well water about 1/4 mile away, which can possibly be used if need be for more water. The road next to the Blue Bear is occasionally used by other guests to go to another cabin, which is about 300 feet away situated behind a curve. The patio’s face opposite ways so you have complete privacy while being outside of your cabin. When you turn on the inverter at the main switch inside the Blue Bear, you have 110 volts (just like your house) with an electrical power strip. Starlink WiFi is available for your stay. Plastic utensils, plates, paper towels, garbage can with bags and toilet paper is included. We also offer a french press for coffee, teapot and hot water kettle in the Blue Bear. Our 7 year old son cuts firewood and sells $5 firewood bundles for the Blue Bear. Please let us know how much firewood you will need for your stay, so that we can make sure it’s available. One firewood bundle usually lasts for one night. In order to preserve water and lessen our carbon footprint, we encourage you to bring your own bed sheets or sleeping bags. The queen mattress has a mattress protector and fitted sheet on it and we keep pillows available for you. We can provide full bedding (flat sheet, comforter and extra pillows) for an extra charge of $20. Please let us know whether you prefer to bring your own bedding/ sleeping bag or would like us to provide them for you. If you book 3+ nights, full bedding will be automatically included. You can bring your horse if you like to explore the trails on horseback. Please let us know ahead of time, so we can provide you the link to book with horse. For those who are sensitive to scents: We have added an essential oil diffuser to help keep flies out in the summer months. The scents used are peppermint, citronella, lemongrass, geranium and cedar wood. Feel free to put the diffuser outside if the scent is too strong. Guest access Self check in and out. Guests have access to Roosevelt National Forest, which is about 200 ft away. Trails are accessible by foot. Absolutely no open fires allowed, since forest fires are always a risk. Other things to note NO OPEN FIRES!!! You have a wood- burning stove inside the cabin, that can be used to heat the space. The outside wood stove/fire pit can be used to make a campfire at night. If the fire in the wood-burning stove is still on when you check out, please leave the burning wood in the stove and keep the stove door shut. NO SMOKING. You can bring your dog for a one time $50 fee. Please make sure your dog is accounted for on your reservation. Thank you. Registration Details Exempt
