We bought the cabin not only to make our own family memories but also to create a beautiful, welcoming, designer space to share with guests. There's plenty of level parking with only a handful of steps to get inside. If the power goes out - which it occasionally does, don't worry because we have a new generator that will kick on within 10 seconds. Smart heating, Sonos speakers with Alexa command to play any song, and new AC in the bedrooms are sure to make your stay comfortable and inviting. With OVER 30 5-star reviews - now managed by us - Peaceful Pinewood won't disappoint! Families, nature enthusiasts, hikers, and adventure seekers love our place. It's also the perfect spot to do nothing, lounge on the deck, and watch the clouds go by, or sit by the fire and have a glass of wine, catch up on your favorite Netflix shows, play a board game, or pursue a coffee table book from our library. Our property extends almost down to the access road below near the seasonal stream. The yard offers stunning views of the trees and is a nice place to explore. Peaceful Pinewood really is a special place. We hope you'll choose to spend your precious time with us. Guest access You have access to the entire house except a storage area under the house. Other things to note FRONT DOOR: Keyless entry. You'll be given a code a couple of days before you arrive. If for some reason, the lock is not working, there's a lock box with a key. THERMOSTAT: The thermostat is on the wall to your left as you walk down the stairs to the main level. In winter, it is set at 55 degrees F. Touch the screen, and you will see the current inside temperature. Along the right edge of the screen, you will be able to scroll the temperature up and down (touchscreen). Please scroll to your desired temperature. TV: There are three TVs in the cabin. All three are smart tv with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, AppleTV etc. There is no live tv at this time. Bring your logins if you want to purchase something that is not included in the main memberships. If you do not see the video service you are looking for on the home screen, use the remote to move screen left. You will get to an “App” icon. Click on that and you should see all services available for the smart tv. GAMES: In the hallway cabinet off the kitchen, near the bathroom, is the game closet. We have half a dozen games, puzzles, legos, tinker toys, Lincoln logs PING PONG/POOL: In the basement, we have a pool table and a ping pong topper. To play pool, just take the ping pong topper off and place it off to the side. BOOKS: We have a nice assortment of books for adults and kids on the living room bookshelves and in the kid’s room MUSIC: We have two Sonos sound systems on the main floor that operate through Alexa. Ask Alexa to play anything you want and enjoy. INTERNET: Network Name: PP-Guest Password: Pinewood FIREPLACE: The fireplace is a wood-burning fireplace with a gas start. A supply of wood is on the front porch. If you run out, there is more under a tarp in the driveway. To start a fire, set up your logs on the rack inside the fireplace. To the left of the fireplace, you will see a silver disk with a hole that holds the gas valve. The “key” should be sitting on the mantle. Insert the gas key and turn left to open the valve. This will immediately start releasing gas from the pipe running under the logs in the fireplace. Use the lighter on the mantle to light the fire. I find that a lot of gas is not needed to start the fire and get it going. Once the logs have caught fire and are able to burn without assistance from the gas, turn the gas key to the right to close the valve. Please make sure the valve is closed before you leave the fire unattended or go to bed. The gas will continue to come out of the pipe and will result in a very dangerous situation. Please note that there is a fire extinguisher on each floor. On the main floor, it is on the wall to the right of the fireplace. In the loft, it is on the wall next to the bedroom on the right, and in the basement, it is between the door to the downstairs deck and the laundry area. ALARM/ SECURITY CAMERAS: You do not have to worry about disarming or arming the alarm. The alarm will be turned off before you arrive and will be reset once your stay is complete. We have three security cameras on the outside of the house (front area, back deck, and bottom deck). Aside from the alarm panel that takes a snapshot when the panel is used to arm or disarm the system, there are no cameras inside the house. SAFETY: We have a First Aid Kit in the kitchen utility closet. There is a fire extinguisher on every floor. Plus an additional one in the kitchen closet. CRITTERS: Lake Arrowhead is home to all sorts of wildlife including racoons, coyotes, grey squirrels, chipmunks, and the very occasional bob cat, or bear. If you bring your dog, do not leave him/her unattended in the yard. If you have a small dog, keep him or her on a short leash when going for walks. **We’ve never had an issue, but we’ve seen coyotes on the street numerous times so best to be cautious. BIRDS: We have a birdfeeder off the deck. There’s a bin of bird food in the kitchen closet. Fill it up no more than halfway and within an hour watch the birds come to feed. (Winter months receive less action) **Please let us know if we are running low on bird food. SNOW AND SNOW PLAY: Snow shovels are located on the upper back deck. There’s snowmelt pellets in a bucket on the front porch. There’s a nice hill at the bottom of the property for sledding. When exiting the cabin if you turn right and walk down to the end of the street, there’s a vacant lot that is fun for snowball fights and snow shoeing. CLOSING UP: Strip beds including duvet and leave downstairs near the laundry room. Put all used towels and rags downstairs near the laundry room. Put games and toys back in the game closet. If you’ve used the fireplace, please remove the ash and place in the black metal ash container to the left of the fireplace. Double check that the fireplace gas is completely turned off. If you’ve taken off the patio furniture covers, please put back on. Make sure all windows and doors are locked. Return the thermostat temperature to 55 degrees F. TRASH: Take out trash and recycling and put in the critter-proof steel trash container. Registration Details CESTRP-2021-00371
