Duddings nestles in 9 acres of the beautiful Avill Valley in Exmoor National Park. It was a farm until 1916 and was transformed into a holiday cottage complex in the 1980s. Updated over the years, Duddings offers comfortable accommodation for up to 77 people across 12 cottages. On-site amenities include a shared indoor pool, hot tub, tennis court and games room. With medieval Dunster & the coast close by and miles of countryside to explore, Duddings is a superb base for your holiday. The space Selworthy Cottage is in the West Barn & has recently been refurbished & extended to create a comfortable and quirky cottage on multiple levels, sleeping 11 in 2 double ,3 twin & 1 single bedroom. It received a 4 Star Gold Award in Nov. 2018 & a Rose Award in 2024. With oak flooring throughout, downstairs contains a fully fitted open-plan kitchen & lounge featuring a 50" TV with sound bar & base unit, and lovely views across the valley from the window seats in the lounge. The dining room (seating up to 14) & utility area lead off from the kitchen. From here, stairs lead up to a double & single bedroom & shower room. The main twin staircase from the lounge leads to a double and twin bedrooms (both with en-suite shower rooms). At the end of the lounge, stairs lead down to a bathroom & extra (5th) loo. Stairs lead up to a twin bedroom & down to a further twin bedroom. The cottage combines space from two original barns, resulting in the unusual layout - so please see the floor plan if confused! 2 doorways lead out to the enclosed sunny patio with built-in BBQ (charcoal) where you can have a meal or drink looking out across our fields & the Avill Valley. Guest access Duddings Country Cottages has a wealth of on-site facilities to keep you entertained all year round no matter the weather! Enjoy the indoor heated pool and spa bath, which has changing and shower facilities. The pool and Spa bath are heated via a wood chip biomass boiler. The games room with pool table, table tennis table, table football also has a 3-seater sofa and 2 armchairs and is a great place to relax, or watch the kids playing! On-site are the owners Shetland ponies, Zag, Dixie. Ziggy, Zippy and Zebedee who can usually be found grazing in the pony fields. Kids will love the Gate Lodge Play Centre, a 2-story playhouse with swings, a slide, a fireman’s pole and assault course to clamber over. Great fun for smaller children, with a table and bench nearby so that the adults can stay close by and watch. Also on-site is a hard tennis court, operating on a ‘turn up and play’ system, with racquets and balls available to borrow. There is also a large Trampoline with protective barrier netting, and a football net situated in the ‘play paddock’ where guests can play cricket or badminton, fly kites etc. Please keep dogs on a lead in this area. In addition, there are 9 acres of land to explore, with picnic areas and a river where you may spot a brown trout (if the heron hasn’t got them all!).
