Loft on Main
Enjoy a cozy and convenient experience at this centrally-located space in the heart of Buchanan. The space THE OLDEST BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN BUCHANAN: The Conant-Parkinson Building at 111 Main St. was built in 1855, with the current façade dating to ca. 1950. A brief history from the National Register of Historic Places nomination form prepared by Pamela Hall O’Connor (2009): “Lorenzo Conant bought the building soon after it was constructed from early produce merchant and land-owner Garrett Morris, in 1857, the same year his daughter (Esther Parkinson) was born. Esther opened her millinery [hat store] here in 1880 and remained until she died in 1926. The Wilson Home Dairy moved in about two years later, and the Wilson’s lived upstairs. The dairy moved to a new building north on Main St. in the early 1950s, and between 1953 and 2000 the DoNut Shop operated here under several different owners.” Sometime in the 1950s, probably between the dairy and the DoNut Shop, Hall's Television Sales and Service operated out of the building (per Debby Hall Laudicino). For several years in the 2010s, Slocum's Gifts did business here. Currently, the first floor is occupied by Haus on Main (Event host). Guest access You will be able to access the space directly from our Main St. entrance. There is a second entrance available off of Oak street, this has stairs leading up to the back deck. There is no elevator requiring 1 flights of stairs to the 2nd floor loft. The entire 2nd floor is yours to enjoy.
