Description
Enjoy a cozy mountain retreat with gorgeous sunsets, quiet nights, and beautiful nearby attractions. This unique and tranquil artists' retreat near Crumpler's healing springs is ideal for writing, meditation, painting, kayaking, or just spending time with friends and family. Get far away from people and noise and enjoy the brightest full moons over the gorgeous ridge near the New River, or have a home base for visiting West Jefferson, Boone, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grayson Highlands. The space This 800-square-foot cottage includes a large front deck, a lofted living room with a gas fireplace and a desk in front of the window, a galley kitchen and dining area, a full bathroom and comfortable queen bedroom on the first floor. The second floor loft is a wonderful bright space for meditation and has a twin bed which may be used as a daybed, or separated into two twin mattresses for groups. Outdoors, you're a short walk to a stream or to the top of the ridge where you can see sunsets and full moons, and a quarter mile from the peaceful banks of the New River. Guest access You will have full access to the house, free parking space for up to three cars, and often there is no one else on the road or ridge at all. Please note: the gravel road can be bumpy and steep, and we would not recommend arriving in ice or snow or long after dark. Other things to note Long-term guests: We welcome you! With that said: there is currently no laundry, and no trash pick up at this home! You will have to drive your trash to the local public dump, which is ten minutes away. There is laundry available in West Jefferson, about 20 minutes away. Past guests have found these options to be perfectly functional and enjoyed stays of 1-3 months; but do let me know if you have any questions about this. All guests: Help yourself to the fire pit and the blueberries growing on vines in the summer!
