Description
Built in 1814, a charming traditional cottage in the pretty village of Strathtay. One double bedroom and one twin bedroom, sleeping four. Kitchen/diner with cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is also use of a washing machine. One shower room with electric shower & heated towel rail. There is a cosy sitting room with a Smart TV and wood burner. The cottage is well equipped with books, games and toiletries. We are pet friendly with a £20 per dog fee. The space Entry hall As you enter the cottage, you’ll find a small hall area with a coat rail for hanging up your jackets and space for your boots and shoes. The stairs to the two upstairs bedrooms are steep with a narrow tread, but there are handrails on both sides to mitigate this. Living room The door to the living room is from the entry hall. Our cosy living room has a two-seater sofa and matching armchair, and an additional chair. The Smart TV with ROKU gives you access to all your apps, whilst giving you easy access to the main Freeview channels and apps. There is also a DVD player and a selection of DVDs to enjoy. The log burning stove is a favourite with our guests, and perfect to sit in front of and warm up and relax after a busy day out exploring the area. We supply everything you need to keep the fire going throughout your stay. There is also an electric heater in the living room which will ensure this space is cosy in the mornings and when you get back from your adventures. We have a brilliant selection of local and Scottish guidebooks, and a large map of the area on display for planning your days by the fire. There is also a selection of games and fiction to keep your occupied when you’re not out and about. Kitchen Access to the kitchen is through a short hall from the living room. This throughway has a small window with a bird feeder outside where you can watch the many garden birds, woodpeckers, and hopefully our friendly red squirrels. This is another favourite spot with our guests! The kitchen has a small dining table and four chairs for meals. The kitchen is well stocked and has a microwave, electric oven/hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, kettle, and toaster. Cleaning products are provided. Tea and coffee, salt and pepper, oils and a selection of other cooking essentials are available. Shower room The electric shower is accessed by a small step. There is a heated towel rail and additional fan heater. We provide a selection of Scottish Soap Company toiletries, including hand soap, shampoo, shower gel and moisturiser. Double bedroom Our newly renovated double bedroom has a solid oak double bed, with crisp white bedding. There are USB charging sockets on each side of the bed to charge your devices. The double room has hanging space for clothes. The vanity unit offers a space for your morning or evening beauty routines and includes a shaving/toothbrush charging point. A hairdryer is provided. There is an electric heater in the bedroom. Twin bedroom Our twin room has two comfy single beds with headboards. There are USB charging sockets beside each bed. A small chest of drawers offers space for your clothes. The vanity unit offers a space for your morning or evening beauty routines and includes a shaving/toothbrush charging point. A hairdryer is provided. There is an electric heater in the bedroom. Outside area There is ample parking for 2 cars at the cottage. This is situated immediately outside of the cottage. There is a garden for guests to enjoy, including a small patio area with a table, 4 chairs and a BBQ. Please note that there is a pond and so young children and dogs should be supervised at all times when using the garden. The garden can be secured by the gate, but there are low walls into neighbouring properties and so security for dogs cannot be assured. Strathtay and surrounding area Strathtay has lots to offer for such a small village! There is a local shop a 5 minute walk away, a golf course across the road, and two very good restaurants a short walk across the river in Grandtully - The Inn on the Tay and the Grandtully Hotel. The award winning Highland Chocolatier is also a short walk across the river. There are also many beautiful walks straight from the cottage door. You can take a short walk along the River Tay, or take a longer hike along the Rob Roy Way to Aberfeldy or Pitlochry. We are perfectly located for The Enchanted Forest, a spectacular light show running this year (2025) from the 2nd October to 2nd November. Pitlochry is a 10-15 minute drive.
