Follow these steps to ensure a smooth trip from your arrival in Padang to your stay with us in the Mentawais. Embarking on your journey to Toro Surfcamp is part of the adventure! Follow these steps to make your way to our paradise: Fly to Padang The Mentawai Islands are off the coast of West Sumatra, Indonesia, with Padang (PDG) being the nearest major city. Many airlines, including daily flights from Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Medan, and Bali, can get you to Padang. If you’re flying internationally, Jakarta offers the most frequent flights to Padang. Overnight Stay in Padang After arriving in Padang, you’ll need to spend the night as part of your journey to the Mentawais. This overnight stay is not included in your Toro Surfcamp booking. Arrange for a driver from the airport to your hotel (costs between 250k-500k IDR, depending on luggage and negotiation skills). Fast Ferry from Padang to Siberut (350,000 IDR) The best choice for time and quality. The schedule is as follows: Tuesday: Departs at 7 AM from Padang, arrives at 1:30 PM in Siberut (more than 6 hours, as it does not go direct). Thursday: Departs at 7 AM from Padang, arrives at 10:30 AM in Siberut (approximately 3 hours, as it goes direct). Saturday: Departs at 7 AM from Padang, arrives at 1:30 PM in Siberut (more than 6 hours, as it does not go direct). Return Trip to Padang: The Mentawai Fast Ferry operates on the same days (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). The return trip durations are approximately 3 hours on Tuesday and Saturday (direct route) and approximately 6 hours on Thursday (non-direct route). The ferry arrives in Padang at 6 PM. Surfboard/luggage cost: 1-15KG: 230,000 IDR (approx. $15-17 USD) 16-25KG: 460,000 IDR (approx. $30-32 USD) Over 26KG: 690,000 IDR (approx. $45-47 USD) Keep your ferry and luggage/surfboard tickets handy as you'll need them to collect your belongings in Siberut. The ferry ride takes 4-6 hours, depending on weather conditions. Final Transfer to Toro Surfcamp Upon arrival in Siberut, we’ll pick you up in a speedboat and bring you to Toro Surfcamp. We’ll also ensure you’re taken back to the ferry for your return trip home.
